Banks with good consumer care

What are the top 2-3 banks of India for corporate banking. Less paper, more electronic and friendly service? It is definitely not ICICI, HDFC and Corporation Bank based on my experience. more

Please try SBI. I have current accounts in SBI & Axis Bank. Axis Bank On-line Corporate banking site keeps on crashing (especially during Tax payment season), and when you go to the bank, some smart tie clad official smiles at you, you can sit and drink coffee, but the problem never gets solved. Internet access is also slow, flimsy and confusing. SBI has unimpressive clerks for the same job, but they know their jobs (unlike, say, ICICI where the branch manager keeps changing every month, and ATMs rarely have cash), SBI clerk types have the authority, and their Internet Banking software is robust, has very few pop ups and useless pages opening up, and is business like, though not flashy and hep. SBI staff may not vacuously grin at you or flaunt their ties when you visit the branch, but the job gets done unceremoniously. more
While going through the comments in this section, I can't but reflect the following: To a greater extent, PSU Banks and specially SBI which is orienting to be more customer friendly, are more reliable than the avaricious private sector banks like the ICICI Bank with its group companies. Setting up a grievance mechanism ( some banks have about four levels, albeit namesake) alone does not establish bonafide of the Bank. As a matter of fact, greivance mechanism needs to be set up by all banks, as per RBI guidelines. The so-called grievance mechanism at ICICI Bank shuns attending to gross and grievious faults of the bank where illegalities including criminal activities are documentarily proven. Their grievance mechanism is a specialised team that only manages the issue to the benefit of the erring ICICI Bank as the bank rewards them well and lets its victim customer to meet dooms day. Ev en their Senior management desk from the CEO's office is no different. Over 90% of staff know very well the fraud committed against the victimised customer but after prolonged dilly dallying, they end suggesting one to go to Banking Ombudsman who can be easily managed by these unscrupulous banks. Greatest caution needs to be exercised while dealing with the privae banks and don't get complacent on less paper work and more online service. When ICICI Bank can create fake documents and manage all and sundry to evade punitive action, it is even more convenient for it to manipulate online data which one of its group company did by tampering to destroy evidence and filing fake documents in a legal proceeding. more
I think the only reason people go to private sector bank because of the efficiency and quickness in services. I had first hand experience with SBI, New Friends colony branch. I asked them to help me open a NRI account and the office responsible told me to come back next week as they do not have forms. I approached couple of staff in the bank to explain that I am travelling next day and can't come next week, so help me in some way. I was surprised that same office who refused to give me form, took out forms from his drawer and handed over to me like he as done some big favor to me. I completed all formalities and received their debit card, but I never received account details and account was never opened. Anamika ji, by the way ICICI is only bank with least paper work, you can do lot of activites online if you have a relationship with them (having an account, TPIN, Debit Card with PIN). Many of the bank do not provide such services online. more
Dear Mam, Whichever Bank you choose, it requires consumers to be alert. Those banks are better whose web-site is more transparent in terms of charges for various services and more importantly the grievance redressal mechanism. The private banks generally do not share the details of the grievance officers like name, contact address, email ids, fax number etc. I recall when I asked Axis Bank to let me know the name and contact details of the chief executive before I decide for opening of an a/c. The branch manager refused to provide the same on the pretext that such details cannot be disclosed as the chief executive is a big shot. I refused to open an a/c on the pretext that if the chief executive is unapproachable to the consumers, the bank is not a consumer friendly. The idea behind is that consumer complaints are bound to happen but there need to be a proper complaint handling system and that too in a transparent manner. To your specific querry, all the banks incl. PSUs are now a days are with electronic transactions. PSUs banks are generally more accountable as per my experience in various complaint escalations. more
I find ICICI still paper oriented. Dealt with them for my sister's NRI account. They are getting better but still long way to go. more
