Basic Customer Services Standards Missing
I think before BIS approves any product for sale it must ensure on a mandatory basis that the product especially electronics, appliance whitegoods has a service network in place.
If that is not the case, product approval must not be given at all.
Electric Kettle at home goes bad. made by company NOVA. Nothing inside the box, nothing on the internet as far as helpline details. Selling online and offline but just want to sell a product and then get away..
If BIS cant do this, the Government should take away right of approval from bis and house it somewhere else. more

To make " Make India" popular One and only way is to have better customer care. Generally people say stories about their experiences abroad with customer care. We too have to create such customer care. At present some companies have contract with same technician for providing service they are just Jack of all trades master of none. We should have dedicated customer care and service for each brand more

With this kind of low class mentality ,Indians can never be a match to China.I am very sure even third rate countries populace will be more ethical and committed.Whom to blame for this .Indian Bhaniyas,work force all alike from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. more

I always feel we are ready to blame govt. for everything. Why don't you check service network before buying? Isn't it in your own interest? OR you just buy because it is cheap and then blame govt. How can one company give so cheap unless they are cutting corners somewhere? Same for E-Commerce. Why are you buying from them? Even after reading so many complaints from many users. Are you forced to buy from them? We do not want to learn from other's mistakes. PLease learn from other's mistakes. I always check feedbacks, customer reviews etc. before making a decision. Also, fake reviews can be easily spotted by their language / praise of the products. Besides, we must try to find out how these e-commerce sites can offer things so cheap? I always prefer personal shopping due to fact that I check manufacturing dates, do not buy old material. Remember, there are no free lunch. they are making profit by hook or by crook. Be careful with your hard earned money. They survive on our gullible attitude due to cheap prices. more

Well Sangeetha Ji, I too am in same boat. I had problems with my Whirlpool Refrigerator and raised complaint. Service Centre's it seems are outsourced independent agencies and they sent a person to verify the complaint and he collected Rs.500/- visit charges. Thereafter 2 days without service team,I called them and gave them a piece of mind and the technician flatly refused to visit saying he felt intimidated. I asked for refund and their manager tells me that complaints of March and April are yet being resolved. So I asked him why then collect the visit fee. However since matter is just of Rs.500/- I found that even Online Consumer registration has a fee payment and litigation process are always unreliable and long drawn. This is where these companies play with customers. Foreign companies get a bad name due to Indian incompetence. I wrote on their Facebook page and have taken screen shots of the same as well as also of the calls made. Crooks and Cheats who are in Customer Care are using Covid-19 excuse to the hilt. more

The role of BIS is limited. Government should re-examine their duty and revise them to suit the public requirement. more
