Be very careful with anti biotics

MNCs continue to sell millions of antibiotics pills here that aren't approved by the local drug regulator, the UK or the US. Just 62% of fixed-dose combination antibiotics sold by companies like Abbott, Astra Zeneca, Novartis and Pfizer are locally approved, and merely 8% cleared for use in the US or UK. India fares poorly on antimicrobial resistance. more

In India there is a great abuse of antibiotics. Unscrupulous dealers sell them without Doctors prescriptions. Patients swallow them without any knowledge of strength or dosage. These are dangerous practices. Such abuse results in making the virus stronger and humans weaker. It should be Hence the sale of antibiotics should also be controlled like that of narcotics. more
Patients are also to be blamed as they ask the Drs to recommend the strongest antibitics. Patients continue to take antibiotics themselves for conditions like cough and cold where there is a hardly any role of antibiotics. more
Well known Indian Phama Co’s – some started with spurious drugs, today Dr’s & Med Assn’s are on TV Channels due Budget Health care discussions. Start interacting with them also Bejon Misra in cc. It is the Doctors moral duty if they have some left to see what they are prescribing. The patient goes to the Doctor with utter faith and expects to use his guidance to get cured but if the Doctor is money minded he will recommend whatsoever company is filling his pockets with gifts etc.So if conscience prevails these antibiotics and other medicines can be stopped. more
MNC's as well as Indian companies provide some small studies done outside US/Regulated countries to rationalise the usage of irrational fixed dosage combinations. This is done by the companies either to create some USP or to escape price control which is normally done on a single ingredient products. Drs recommend such products knowing fully well that such combinations are irrational due to aggressive marketing as well hooking Drs in the name of academic sponsorship's. more
Who needs to be careful? Patients? Doctors who prescribe such medicines, they need to know the facts and should not prescribe these? Government controlled medical institutes are equally responsible who do not come forward against use of such medicines. more
We must be aware, our world is today is ruled by big-business. Whether antibiotics or household food and utilities, we have no escape from what they dump in the market, aided by very powerful advertisements. All govts of the day act as their patrons and chief marketing agents, for their country ( so-called) DEVELOPMENT!
