Beautifying yourself fast for special ocassions
So you had put off washing your hair for one more day this morning. You had no choice, of course. You were already late and the coffee hadn't kicked in. We don't blame you. But now, with precisely 20 minutes to get ready and get out of the door, you stare at your hair and hate it. If you are in a situation like this (we know it happens too many times than we would like to admit), do not worry. Sprinkle some talc in the palm of your hands and gently rub it on the top of your head, at the parting or the most visible portion of the greasy hair. The talc will instantly absorb the oil, giving you much fresher-looking hair, albeit for a night. Make sure you spread it evenly, rub well, and blend it. Don't end up looking like you have premature gray hair.
Bring the sparkle back to your tired eyes
They say your eyes reflect your soul. And they also reflect the late nights and high stress. Fatigue becomes visible in your eyes and the dark circles you sport around them. But there are ways to get the better of them. Apart from the good old cucumber slices, there are a few more options to take care of the pesky problem. Try potato slices instead of cucumber. The starch in the potatoes works quickly and adds a little sparkle to your eyes. Tea bags, dipped in hot water, cooled, and placed over closed eyelids for five minutes, instantly lessen the puffiness and eye bags.
Dull skin? Here's how you can make it glow
Don't be bogged down by dull and dehydrated skin at the end of a long workday. After all, even the best of us go through bad hair and/or bad skin days despite all the caring and nurturing. It's easy to get swayed by those 10 minute facials advertised on the TV, but they are hardly useful. So save yourself from the tubed chemicals and simply wash and splash your face with cold water. Follow it up with any natural face pack right from your kitchen. Mash some papaya and apply all over the face to reduce the visibility of the dark patches. You can also mix yogurt and honey, and apply it to your face. This will give you a supple and youthful glow. Some lentil flour (besan) mixed with rose water and a few drops of lime juice will also liven up the oily skin.
Makeup tips and tricks
Let us be honest about this one. Putting on makeup takes a lot of time unless you've had some professional training. The irony is that you must be able to do it like a pro just when you don't have much time to do anything elaborate to enhance your natural beauty. But don't worry. Dig into these beauty hacks that will come to your rescue.
· Once you have applied your lipstick, take a piece of tissue paper and cover your mouth with it. Gently powder some translucent powder on the lips, so that it will last a long time.
· Avoid mascara smudges by holding up a business card/some tissue paper behind your lashes as you apply. This works especially well with your lower lashes.
· If you're out of your favorite brow gel, use lip balm instead. Apply it with your finger; then use a clean brush to tame your unruly brows and set them into place.
· If your hair starts to frizz and you haven't got any smoothing serum with you, use hand cream. Just apply it to your palms and then run your fingers lightly through your hair, starting at the back.
· Use essential oil instead of deodorant. Rub bergamot, rose or lemon oil on your pulse areas. They smell good, feel really soft, and the best part is, last very long.
· You can skip eyeliner if you apply mascara by wiggling the brush at the roots of the lashes. This works especially well if you have a bushy brush.
· Need your nail polish to dry faster? Dunk your digits in a bowl of cold water for 1-3 minutes to cut your drying time by half.
· Mix some liquid highlighter or moisturizer with your foundation to get that dewy, model-like glow.
· Apply your lipstick and then dab on some frosted powder on your bottom lip and a little bit of it on the middle of your top lip. The light is reflected off it and creates a highlight, giving the effect of fuller, more luscious lips.
Finally, add a little zing
Apart from looking good, make sure that you also feel good about what you are wearing. Be comfortable and stylish. A pair of heels will instantly make you feel dressed up, as well as a bright shade of lipstick. Go according to your choice, feel at home, and let the good times roll. more
