Beef Status and Standards

Hello all, this is Nikita based in london and doing some research work on food standards or lack of.

I recently came to know about this platform as a Govt-Citizen interface. I want to ask about consumption of beef in India.

Is beef banned in some states now?
Does fssai/fda have any standards for beef consumption?
Is the Govt looking at changing standards to discourage beef consumption?

Would be greatful for responses and insights.

NIKITA JI kya beef beef lagaye. It appears though U R based in London U are not aware of THE TRANSFORMATIONS taking place in the food habits of the BRITISH PEOPLE. Their rate of conversion(SELF AND NOT FORCED Please) from NON VEG. TO VEG. is very high. U can verify this FACT from the GOOGLE. Be a Britisher in BRITON. It is high time that we the INDIANS(BHARATH VASIYO) who indulge in saying that, " Ours is the Oldest Civilizesion and we taught IT to the other world, shall stop fighting for BEEF ,PORK ,MEET,CHICKEN Etc.Etc.and AMELIORATE the Britsh (and even the entire WEST---you can find from GOOGLE) I ALSO APPEAL TO S/S RANJIT, BHATTACHARYA,VENUGOPAL, MAHAPATRA AND OTHERS TO PONDEROVER more
Cow slaughter is banned but not consumption of beef. Even cow slaughter is still permitted in certain states. more
Cow slaughter was banned in all but four states of India decades ago, when the Congress ruled the whole country. So the only was beef from cows would be available would be if cows are slaughtered illegally, or beef was brought in from one of these four states. Now both these activities need to be stopped, in accordance with the laws passed a long time back. more
Beef is still allowed in some states. more
Mr. Nagaraja up date your information , it was banned and law was in-forced for slaughtering ,it didn't work as it's own (BJP ) states opposed it so it was taken back . When you ask about consumption there you will not get any data then how will regulate . We are the highest exporter of beef and export is not stopped so far .When we say we are Hindus and treat cow as mother we don't eat beef and other side we are secular state not Hindu state but we wish stoping of slaughtering is this not contradictory . As per me nothing can be done by FSSAI or any other agencies . more
