BERTH ALLOTMENTS AND CANCELLATION ISSUES IN TATKAL TICKETS.

I frequently book Tatkal train tickets thro' IRCTC site. Mostly I am allotted some of the worst Berths such as Side upper or Upper berths near the doorways and other inconvenient places. While Railways are charging a high Tatkal fare, why cant they atleast allot good berths of the passengers choice?
Is railways punishing the travel for his last minute travel Plans? Its like giving you a punishment and fine both like in case of a criminal. Why cant the Ministry of Railways be compassionate to the last minute traveller who is already paying a high Tatkal fare? Further if you get a uncomfortable berth and you cancel the ticket you get nothing back. Isn't this outright robbery of it's citizen by the Governament? This situation was never there in the past. Looks like the governament wants to recover its losses from Tatkal travellers or the ticket cancellations. It really hurts and pinches frequent travellers like us who have to travel due to work. more

Number of bogies of Chair Cars with AC and Non AC may be introduced/increased irrespective of whether it is overnight express trains or long distance trains. To some extent passengers can get satisfied with sitting travelling without much hindrance of unwanted public. more
some of the Tatkal rules can be described as " Daylight Robbery" by Railways. more
I support your allegation. I have many times bitter experience getting always upper births even I book in the counter 2 months in advance inspire of mentioning my age 75 yrs n ticking at senior citizen option. No use of our cry there is none to solve. more
Now railways charge only 48% of the cost incurred. Tatkal was introduced several years ago. Dynamic pricing is there for airline tickets. If you plan early you pay less, if you book late you pay more. I DO NOT see any thing wrong with this policy. more
Why to blem railway only? Do air lines and bus services not charge higher ticket price for last few days? It is nothing new. more
