Berth Management in Railways
The berth management process need to change. I will propose a system where when someone gets a confirmed ticket don't give them a seat number instead just confirmation and coach#. Once all the booking done for the coach, using some software allot the berths taking into account the age mix of the passengers in the compartment. The lower berth should go to Sr Citizen, followed by person travelling with children and similar criterias. more

It is not correct. We book ticket in advance mention the berth. so not alloting the required berth is not correct.Sr.citizens should be accomaded in lower berths as possible more

I m a senior citizen 64yrs old.In month of June I booked e-tkt from BPL to Banglore online.I got Upper seat.When I mailed to care of IRCTC they mail me it is not possible in online reservation for senior citizen get lower birth.Again I booked tkt from BPL to NZM again I got upper birth.At that time so many birth is vacant.Then why Railway Department assured senior citizen get lower birth.similarly my wife is also senior citizen 60 yrs also got middle birth. more

Mr somnath this is not the solution but it will create more confusion. There are many checks in IRCTC ticket booking page where u can get a confirmed birth of your choice if available or else you many not get a ticket. more
