Beware of Direct Selling/Multi level marketing schemes

Many in India are in the trap of companies like Amway, Tupperware and gazillion others who do multi level marketing. These people approach you in malls dept stores, airport, other public places and attempt to recruit you.

Today ED files a charge sheet against Amway India; says the company was running a multi marketing scheme and money circulation scheme to collect money from subscribers.

ED has identified proceeds of crime worth Rs 4,050 crore.
Immovable and movable assets worth Rs 757 crore attached.

All may share this in whatsapp groups as many ladies fall for these activities too. more

This business is going on for the about 40 years. Why so late action ? more
Direct selling has changed with the advent of the internet. It is no longer what it used to be. So whether its 40 or 50 years, consumers need a safety net. more
Sudarshan ji has nicely listed the names. All must be investigated more
The lure of quick money has made even many smart people get into such schemes. While Amway is known to market high-priced sub-standard products, not every product in direct selling mode is frivolous. The lure of 'Direct selling' and larger share of commissions is conceptually fine. However, has this model really stood the test of time? It seems to be a chain marketing scheme where the early movers and the ones at the upper level of the pyramid gain more. Rather, in the guise of direct selling these schemes turn into pyramid schemes thanks to the first lines in the chain of command. And once it necomes a pyramid, the efficacies are lost and it is bound to fail. The following are the most notorious in India today: Amway, Herbalife, Modicare, Avon Products, Forever Living Products, Oriflame, Vestige, RCM, Mi Lifestyle Marketing Pvt Ltd, Tupperware, Asclepius Wellness, Avon, DXN, Business solutions, Qnet, Vestige Marketing Pvt. Ltd., Forever Living, MLM Company India.... Almost all of them are goverment approved/recognised. In the times of internet selling, it is not clear how these old concept direct sales companies are beneficial to the larger section of society. The entire concept of direct selling is challenged by technology providing much better alternatives. more
