Big business cheating us on ghee

For 1 Kg Ghee, you need 20 Kg of buffalo milk or 30 Kg of cow's milk !

To make Ghee, milk alone will cost at least Rs 1200 Not to forget fuel, labor, & other overheads !

Now, the million dollar question is that how on earth is Baba Ramdev/Patanjali or Amul giving "Pure" Ghee at approx Rs 600/Kg? more

Milk is processed in big industry and the process is known as skimming of milk. Only the excess fat is removed and converted to butter and ghee. Rest of the milk is sold as skimmed milk which people buy in supermarkets. so there is basic misunderstanding on your part. Amul is not cheating you or anyone. more
I think many people do not know how ghee is made by big corporations. They feel ghee is made by traditional method only. Buffelo/ Jersy cow milk is high fat milk (it goes as high as 9). They remove cream (Fat) from this milk and then convert it in to ghee directly. Milk with less fat content is then sold to us. we any way prefer milk with less fat content due to health reasons. They do not go the traditional way by turning milk to curd and then churn it for butter and then make Ghee from it. Yes, it would be better you do some search on google before asking such questions. It shows your ignorance and almost bordering to stupidity to some . Take care. more
Without complete study of facts, no one should be blamed. Industry buys 40 to 45 rupees per kg from farmers. more
Fatless or low fat milk after taking fat content is sold @ Rs.45.00 per litter. Curd n Lassi also fetch good price. In competitive market, doing business is tough. more
Milk is bulk ( in tankers) is purchased at much lower price. We should not consider the retail selling price of milk while working out the cost of ghee. more
I find this type of stupid messages on this portal regularly. Ms. Garima should consider the remnants of the milk after removing butter/ghee. The remnants also fetch good price - Chachh is sold at Rs. 10 for 300 ml by Amul and others. more
