BILLED MORE THAN MRP
Hello Dear members of this group,
Kindly help me with the complaint I have.
I am from Hyderabad and have recently visited Kurnool wherein I had dinner at a restaurant with my friends and was shocked to see the bill in which the water bottle that was served to us was of Rs. 19/- MRP and billed it in the bill at Rs. 30/- when we have asked them, they have said that it is because of GST. However at the end of the bill they have again levied CGST and SGST. I am attaching the bill and the picture of the bottle with MRP. Kindly suggest me or correct. more

Let's face the facts, folks! Except for in Singapore (I hope it is still true as it was in 1989-2002; I lived there then....), there is no other country where a product is sold at the same price in different establishments. In Western countries, for example, a beer in a roadside bar may cost 4 Euro, but the same beer in a bar in a 3-star hotel will want you to pay 5 Euro for it, whereas in a night-club the same bottle of beer would cost 20 Euro. By the way, one Euro is about 73 Indian rupees. So far as I can recall, they do not have the concept of MRP in the western countries. The same is happening in restaurants, bars, nightclubs in India too........despite MRP. Having said that, we had a rather surprising experience in the Venice Mall in Greater Noida last week. We ordered lunch in the Food Court on the second floor in a food stall whose name I do not recall at the moment. They had a huge poster announcing that water in bottle will be charged at MRP. And they did it too. Rs.20 for a one-litre bottle of water..... Now, is that not impressive? Things do seem to be changing in this country, right? Let's be patient, more will change! BUT, nothing will change if WE are not prepared to "change ourselves" too. more

Mr. Ranjit , that is the wisest solution for over pricing; not to order packaged water or soft drinks in restaurants . The tax establishments , officers and staff have a duty to perform . They are specially paid to do some job . Still there is no clarification on the matter yet officially for this oft repeated complaint. If we stop making complaints and if the department is quiet , it will become a practice.Can't form rules and stay put and let the public fend for themselves. more

It has become practice for years even at airports they,charge more than 100%,of the labeled price. more

Water bottles cannot be charged more than MRP anywhere in the country... as per the orders issued by govt more
