BIO TOILETS IN TRAINS

I FEEL THE BIO TOILET IN THE PRESENT CONDITION IS NO GOOD,WE SHOULD REVERT BACK IF RAILWAY IS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN . more

The so-called Bio-toilets are maintained as stinking sceptic tanks. This is what our Governments are adept at and very famous for. They start a new project in grand style, inaugurate it in an even bigger way and with that just forget the maintenance part. I feel the maintenance part is deliberately left to extremely crooked contractors. The LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches are unsuitable for our Indian conditions. To travel in these LHB AC coaches one has to be an Gymnast or at least possess monkey traits. I had the worst experience of travelling in an LHB AC coach during rainy season. The Bio-toilet and Vestibule turn into an emergency shower points. I wonder whether the current Railway Minister had any time done a surprise check thru train travel after assuming office. Our country is a biggest dumping yard for Western Countries. Whatever that's discarded there, right royally land here. When will the curse leave us??????????????????? more
In Rajdhani, Duranto, Shatabdi, and many other trains I have found that Bio-Toilets are Unusable and spreads non tolerable smell to the slippers near to them. In-spite of complaining it doesn't get cleaned properly. more
BIO TOILETS MOST OF THE TIME ARE FOUND FILLED/FULL WITH FECES TO THE TOP AND UNUSABLE. VERY INCONVENIENT FOR PASSENGERS ON LONG ROUTE TRAINS . MAJOR REASON I THINK IS THROWING CUPS, PLASTIC BOTTLES ETC RESULTING IN CLOGGING AND SECOND WASTE TANKS NOT BEING EMPTIED AT MAJOR STATIONS . WASTE TANK CLEANING MECHANISM SHOULD BE THEIR AT MAJOR STATIONS FOR PASSING LONG JOURNEY TRAINS ATLEAST. ALSO WATER LEVEL INDICATORS SHOULD BE INSTALLED FOR OVERHEAD WATERTANKS . more
I am a frequent traveller in trains for long hours. I too find that the railways who claim that thery are modernizing the facilites are in fact creating more mental agony and discomfort. The major ones are 1) Stainless steel bio toilets, which are horrible and never hygenic. They remove porcelain coomodes which are in stain free and easy to clean with those of stainless steel which are difficult to clean and maintain. They fit with bio-toiles, a just buzz word, where the waste remains inside and the levers never function making passengers suceptible to all types of comminicable diseases. 2) In some of the modern coaches, they raised the upper berrth height and reduced the gap between the berth and coach top, forcing the passengers crawl to go to bed, and can never sit comfortably like old coaches. This makes many passengers opting out for upper berth which otherwise most comfortable. 3) They replace the ladders from normal painted steel frames (with or without rubber) to shining stainless steel ladders with unnessary additonal widths and worst designs. The ladders are so smooth there are incidents where passengers lost grip at foot and got hit. 4) In the new design coaches, the upper beths including side upper berths are being provided with only a stainless steel frame covering a small are to prevent passengers falling instead of solid steel rib/chain support from ceiling, where we could hold for grip and ensure 100% safety with respect to prevention of accidental falling. 5) I understand in some of the new coaches, there are no fans in AC coaches which is yet another improper improvement in my opinion. 6) However, Railways still keep 3 h as minimum period for refunding the late running trains which should be 1 h with so many years of improvements and progress. There are many such changes, which railways calim as comfort to passengers, are essentially making the travellers suffer more and distances the comfort and convenience of earlier coaches. I dont know how these so called improvements creating more troubles to passengers, are getting approved at different levels before being accepted by highest authorities of railways. Thanks for the providing this forumm which may attract the attention of few other users and personnel who have authority to address some of the issues. more
