Bio toilets

What is everyone’s experience with biotoilets. I continue to see them in choked state in various trains. What have you seen. Either railways has to make them work better or go back to original toilets?

Indian public puts up with so much. Gobar gas plant technology, simple. Gobar being cleaner, contrastingly, human waste totally toxic! Also scale everything here, that makes the difference. Cannot work within a small commode within a coach toilet. प्रत्यक्ष को प्रमाण क्या! https://corruptionindrdo.com/bio-toilet-choked-with-complaints/ Quoting a railway official "Nowhere in the world are such toilets used in rail coaches as in India". No study was carried out before installing the toilets in coaches! Please read above note including the part "Loo-se Ends"! "95% of these toilets are faulty" - Not my words! Project cost Rs.1,000 crores. Corruption abounds! more
Maintaining an asset is difficult, but after promising quick repairs, Railways have not come up to their Mark. Fixtures in train Wash Rooms are found damaged, leaking, place kept unclean, urine smelly etc etc. One feels that we might get a disease if we use such toilets. Every train should have a scavenger attached to get such places cleaned also the coaches should be taken for physical repairs, at least once in 6 months. more
Here the rail user can not blame the fellow raill user. Thre is enough warnings and onformation to the user not to throw any other matter except water. Have we noticed enough trash bins for the trash to be thrown in ? Even if there is are they periodically cleared ? more
I fully agree reverting to the old style of toilets. Personal level toilet training, which one undergoes at a pre-school level, seems missing. System should be such so as to take care of anyone using the toilet, even carelessly. No merit therein, if one is forced to use system with too much caution. Bio-toilets are mostly choked, a measure too clever by half. They must be immediately withdrawn, in long distance trains where one stays inside the train for over 24 hours, and replaced with the earlier type toilets. Or add accelarated bio-digesters, and roboting cleaning after each use. These should have vaccuum system and engineered better. But even more than 11 years later, they continue, continuing in the same filth. Umpteen times I have written about this too. Newspaper reports also, have come out about incidents when this on flushing EJECTED SHIT! See below. Blaming Indian public easy, but please read: Biotoilets in Railways smells of corruptionBelow is a quick summary of newspaper article today that says biotoilets are broken and there is corruptio... Reeta Kumar, You are very right and LOGICAL in saying " Either make them work BETTER or Go back to Original". RAILWAYS must take the Accountability when they have introduced it and not inflict the Passengers in the post Covid scenario of extracting EXTRA money by abolishing (i) Senior Citizen concessions (2) Converting many train nos. and charging more money (3) increasing the minimum fare in Passenger trains etc.etc . I had great respect for the Railways Design Engineers of 1950s through 1980s for the design capabilities. It seems that Breed is gone for ever. Bio-Toilet nuisance complains are from the time these were introduced. Make it FOOL PROOF please and see that it works in this vast country. THEN THIS WILL BECOME A CASE STUDY EXAMPLE IN MANY MANAGEMENT AND DESIGN INSTITUTES IN INDIA AND ABROAD ! more
