Biodegradable seat covers & door-mats for toilets
This is a nice list to begin with. May I suggest two more small, low-cost innovations that will make train toilets far more comfortable and clean to use - as well as to maintain?
1. Provide paper seat covers - these can be pulled out from a 'dispenser' like tissues. These covers will provide excellent hygiene, and be greatly appreciated by ladies and the elderly in particular. After use, they may be cast into the dustbin for recycling into compost.
2. Provide the cleaners with a stock of absorbent paper door-mats, to be placed outside/inside toilet doors and replaced frequently. These door-mats will greatly solve the problem of wet, smelly and dangerously unsanitary floors that are the bane of train toilets at present. Again, these door-mats too can be recycled. more

Good idea. So much eatables sold inside trains and such an environmentally friendly transport needs sanitation improvement. Trains after all have proven their worth for goods transportation economically and ecologically. Toilets need better management. Bio-enzymes too could be an aid, as what we require is hastening the process of cleaning. more

Good idea. I spread Toilet paper or new paper on the toilet seat to use it. Its so dirty even after cleaning by staff. Their mop itself is dirty & they have no idea how to clean. more

Mr. Paramasivam , good suggestions these will have to be disposed meticulously. Being a tour organizer I takem y guests by trains also. During the days when these toilet seats covers were not available I used to take sheats of news paper in 2 ply and cut off the opening in the appropriate place and suply the guests. Now that railways have decided to provide dustbins inside and outside the toilet it will work out well. If railways adopts to use these 2 the size of the dustbins should be determined and the dustbins should be xclusively for the biodegradable trash . more
