BIS STDS
What is the mentality of BIS body. important issues like road life and pits ,road sigals requirement standards , where signals and road junctions are necessary to avoid accidents are neglected and existing standards are not maintained by users.
how many liscences of companies, shops, dealers, hotels, milk booths are suspended every year for not maintaining standards. not a single ?
manufacturers are also part of BIS . hence under influence of big industrialists, system becomes helpless and relaxation is given in norms.

Satya Pal ji, the posting you have made, I believe, does not fall within the domain of BIS. It is the job of public works departments of the States or the Central PWD or National Highways departments. more

BIS has standards for signals and road junctions to avoid accidents, and it is expected that existing standards are to be maintained while construction of the Roads. more

Dear Satyapal Singh ji & the other commentators, you will have to understand the mandate of BIS under the act of Parliament is formulation of National Standards and Product certification. Almost for all the subjects under the above complaint/ comment are available and they are available on the BIS site. Certification is basically is voluntary scheme. only few products are under mandatory certification like Cement, Water. Various ministries have mandate to bring the products under mandatory certification. The complainant and above commentators if residing in Delhi can visit BIS office at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg ( adjacent to international post office, opposite to Doll's museum and get first hand information. more

Its like fence eating the crops. BIS is supposed to be the supreme body in the country to maintain the quality. No products should reach the common man's hands without the cirtification of this body. The government has to be serious about the countries quality. Hence a request ,, if possible put a minister for quality. Put the safety first. more

This is over expectation...if BIS is under any ministry then we should not expect them to work without personal interest because that has become our culture....there could be more nails in the name of reservation if applicable....so look at other standards and adopt wherever required....
