Black Money

By raising the Political Temp on the issue of Black Money and by inviting a reprimand by the SC to reveal all the names in court, and by doing so as per their order, the BJP has indeed done a great service to the nation, by living up to their promise of disclosing all names within 5 months of coming to power. Which the UPA cud not do in 120 months.
On the face value, it wud seem the govt was playing ping pong with those names, and feeding bits of pieces instead of the entire list.

But what the govt was actually doing was the following:

01. The list of 800+ names was a list received not from the Swiss but from indirect sources, way back in 2007. Hence revealing those names in public wud make the Swiss stone wall all co-operation in the investigation. Which wud put the govt in the back foot. And make them fail on their campaign promise.

02. The Congress intelligently (for their benefit) had already put in some treaties with the Swiss with the intention of protecting some of these names, which the present govt realized after they started investigation.

03. Major clause in these treaties (which the Cong did with the Swiss) was that, Swiss wud refuse to co-operate in the investigations if any single name in the list was revealed to gain political mileage. And they can safely claim to the Indian Public that, these names cannot be revealed due to issues of Double Taxation.

04. Now the BJP was caught in a quandry that, if they reveal all the list the Swiss wud stop co-operating, since some of these 800+ names were legal accounts, and due to the treaties. And, if they dont reveal then they wud seem as going back on their campaign promise.

05. Another major fallout which the govt realized is that, if all the 800+ names r revealed (some of which might be legal accounts), predictably, these legal account holders wud start howling from their roof tops about their privacy being violated. Which wud also make the illegal account holders join the chorus, mentioning that, their accounts too r legal. Evolving an overall state of confusion which wud spiral out of control completely.

06. So, as a master stroke, they revealed only 3 names, thereby increasing the impatience of the SC, which as expected asked the BJP to reveal all names immediately.

07. Now the responsibility of protecting (the legal accounts) or revealing (the illegal accounts), or both, now lies with the SC (after they receive the list from govt tomorrow), and no longer is that of the govt.

08. Meanwhile the govt can safely proceed with their investigations with all the illegal accounts within those 800+ names in their own time, and get back the illegal money.

09. That way, the govt gets to keep it's campaign promise (with little criticism from the fog headed media), while also ensuring that the SC themselves become part of the investigation, and also make the SC party to the after effects or fall out of revealing or not revealing those names.

10. And the best part being, even if all the names r revealed by the SC, the Swiss will not complain and not stop co-operating. Since the names were not revealed by a political party for their political gains, but the nation's topmost Court, in the interest of the nation.

11. The best part is, the Cong & the AAP who very well knew the BJP's predicament of not being able to reveal all the 800+ names for fear of non co-operation from the Swiss started cornering the BJP on going back on it's election promise. But, what they did not count on was the SC order to the govt (BJP) to reveal all the names immediately. Which the BJP is doing tomorrow.

12. Now the Cong does not know what to do? Since many of their tall leaders and families will be on the list. AAP does not know what to do. Since, sooner or later the BJP will start howling effectively thro their highly effective spokespersons that, it was they who revealed those names which the Congress cud not do in 120 months. Since, after the revelation of the list, the BJP's initial dilly dally will be completely forgotten in the euphoria and din raised with the success. more

We bankers had a great hope on Modiji ON HIS JUSTICE SYSTEM. When earlier UPA government indulged in lot of corrupt practices including in appointment of EDs/CMDs to PSBs, we raised the voice. During the election campaign amongst the bankers/their families and relatives, it was spread that Modiji shall be the next face of this country. In many of our open forums also we campaigned for him. Even when Jan-Dhan yojana was launched the bankers have whole heartedly supported and contributed for the programme in large way. However when bankers sought Modiji's help in getting a honourable wage revision, the same was not supported. Rather we bankers are left at the mercy of Fin Sec/IAS lobby, who always feel that bankers need no salary. The appointment of ED/CMD to PSBs at the hands of these lobby is a lucrative business, as has been held, by cancelling all short listed appointments recently. The said lobby may be of the view that all bankers are having so much money to pay them and hence there is no need of any enhancement in their salary. Otherwise there is no reason to delay the wage revision for bankers, when entire salaried class in the world got their due including State governments/loss making institutions. Central government employees who are not having any profit making/earning are entitled for their 7th Pay Commission. But PSBs with all social responsibilities like Jan-Dhan, financial inclusion, service in unbanked area, rural India, terror affected area and with all types of risk at every stage of their functioning are neglected class. How Modiji has justified this decision for delay is a surprise. Shall we expect justice from this "YUG PURUSH". more
This is not about religion. Inappropriate to mention a segment of society as if only Hindus have black money. Large percentage of Muslims in this country are not very wealthy, and seldom in a position to generate black or and colour of money. Money knows no religion and a cheat is a cheat what ever religion he may be. No religion teaches dishonesty. more
Govt should stop tax exemption to NRIs as their income also is minimum 3 times than his equivalent in India and on top of that he pays NO tax is very unfair deal to the Nation and also to those earning so less in India and paying tax also. Its highly discriminating and also root cause of Black Money generation as these NRIs apart from getting tax free salaries also bring lot of liquid Forex which is black money. NRIs are the ones who invest maximum in Propoerty and Gold in India and reason for prices of Property and Gold unafordable to those Indians who are working in India and also paying tax, for them Property and Gold have become unaffordable. more
Indeed we are very happy and we all are waiting sleeplessly to see the names of the traitors, majority of whom might be HINDUS. If the case is as per my guess, then it will be a great teaching for the kattar HINDUS. However, my intention is not to fan out the communalism, but to spread (rather revive) the universal messages of the Aryans i.e. not to destroy any thing (as every thing is created by GOD), but to tap the potential from every one / every event with love. Keeping aside the appreciations (as it is only a tip of the iceberg) right now, it is high time for us to set the priority towards man making mission (without blaming any individual or any community as a whole - generalizing the fact), so that history does not repeat again. Very well written. Its good to know that the names are out there. It though remains to be seen how long these investigations and final prosecution will take, before the black money is brought back home.I hope the Supreme Court will proceed with serious speed; and we will not have one of Special Investigation Teams that just SITs out there for decades.By the way, have we ever brought back black money? What is the logistics; has the govt. worked out the procedure for that?Who will own it, RBI? How will it be utilised and what will be the transparency? Will we see visible benefits of the utilisation of the black money in a given period? more
