Booking Failure and Fare charged to Bank A/c.

Earlier in this column it has been brought to notice that even though IRCTC website provides lots of facility while booking a ticket, there are some drawback as follows;
Even though the website gives options i) to select berth ii) do not book if selected berth is not available or iii) at least one or two selected berths are not available.
My point of consideration is that when so much option is available then why booking amount is deducted from passenger's account even though transaction stands as "FAILED".
Why the site does not informs the passenger that selected options are not available and whether he/she should like to continue or cancel the transaction before fare is charged to his/her account.
Just now I was booking ticket and blocked Rs.2080/- due to this snag.
Only third time I was successful.
I request IRCTC to upgrade it software and do the needful on a priority basis. more

In 10 days time, my efforts to book a ticket to Visakhapatnam failed 3 different times after amounts were deducted from my Bank when done through IRCTC (clearly tickets were available). Of course customary emails about their refunds came later sacrocently. But the issue is that I could not reserve a birth finally even before 10 days and berths were available. The reply is that the Bank web site did not send payment information in time and booking was a filure. Earlier also several times this has happened and I put a post in these columns. IRCTC should do something to avoid such booking failures. May be they are thinking that refund is given later and consumers can be fooled. Some serious action is needed on this issue. more  
IRCTC is just a facilitator between the Railways and their passengers for booking reserved tickets. Apart from that they do not take any responsibility of getting refunds on TDRs which are normally rejected by the concerned Zonal Railway refunds departments due to silly reasons or sometimes without any reason at at all. They do not convince the Railways to implement customer friendly measures on their websites. On the other hand, the Indian Railways is hardly bother to address customer grievances while concentrating on increasing their revenues through ticket sales, penalties, holding back refunds or not giving refunds at all, overcharging passengers by way of increasing fares with Premium on Trains and offering the same service to passengers even after fleecing them of with the "Official Premium". more  
Appreciate your concern. Unfortunately PAYTM is grabbing the refund amount for a long time. Even they are waiting for another booking. If you have done, your refund amount will be released otherwise not. more
