Boosting Jobs and Economic Growth- Inputs Required on Solutions
Dear Friends:
Thank you for taking the time to share issues and root causes related to Jobs and Economic Growth.
These are some of the key root causes identified by you all for the current state of Jobs and Economic Growth of India:
1. Lack of focus on Skills but a belief that a degree will get the job creates an industry-academia gap.
2. Lack of importance to industry relevant practical training in higher education
3. Degrees on sale – one could literally pay to get a degree from many small institutions
4. Educational institutes are not properly audited before giving clearances
5. No effort from Government on developing entrepreneurship ecosystem and enabling entrepreneurs
6. Limited research and innovation in most sectors
7. Lack of effective surface transport and infrastructure
8. Poor law and order situation
9. Starting a new business/multi national operation is a tedious process
10. Corruption
11. Import of low quality and cheap goods allowed from China
12. Imports exceed the exports and hence the depreciation of rupee

Extreme automation in many manufacturing sectors see layoffs in large numbers. In India, this may not be visible as such companies are rare. However, the trend of automation is catching up fast. Therefore, looking up to manufacturing sector as a source of relief would be highly adventurous and non-rewarding in the long run. This is because extreme automation guarantees high quality products, the standards of which are unattainable with human-craft interventions. Additionally, since a low-quality product would eventually wane out from markets, every manufacturer would finally resort to product-automation. Therefore, we need to think afresh about the alternatives. Entrepreneurial manufacturing ventures through 3D printing could be an effective long-term solution to counter the non-employee-trending-production houses. Incentives may be extended to people who make available designs of their products online, free-of-cost, to boost the economic growth. Universities and colleges may be sensitised to include 3D-printing techniques in their own respective areas of interest as part of curriculum. more
