Bottled Water Test Results

Based on a consumer test findings, Rail Neer is the top performer. Next in ranking are McDowel’s and Bisleri bottled waters.

Rail Neer is also the value-for- money brand – it costs Rs 15 a litre, as against the general price of Rs 20 per litre.

Except for Bailey, Aquafina, A4X and Royal Blue, all other brands were found to be meeting the requirements of Indian Standard.

Aquafina, Royal Blue, Bailley and A4X had total colony count (of bacteria) higher than the maximum permissible limit set by Indian Standard. P. aeruginosa bacteria were also found in these four.

Yeast and mould count was found in Aquafina.

None of the brands was found surpassing the maximum permissible limit for various minerals, toxic substances and residual pesticides.

In physical tests (colour, TDS, turbidity, pH), all brands met the requirement set by Indian Standard. more

During travel by train I make it sure either I take a bottle of water from home or buy on Rail Neer at station before boarding the train. It is safe because at many places it is found that tap water is filled and bottles sold to needy passengers specially from General compartments. more
Thanks SARITHA, For the NEWS. Can we have a copy of the TEST RESULTS more
It is rightly pointed out that the authenticity of the tests also needs to be verified. Still this is a c=valuable information and "Thank you, Sarita" for this. more
who was the testing agency ? what was the number of sample used ? It would be useful, if the testing is done quarterly, to take care of seasonal issues. Actions should be prescribed, in case of failures more
Thank you for this useful analysis, Sarita. On a previous analysis, only Bisleri and Himalyan were found to be perfect, all the other brands had some defect. The government FSSAI should ban the products that have P. Aeruginosa as it is a deadly bacteria and cannot be cured easily. It is resistant to almost every drug except for colistin, an extremely costly drug which has to be administered only intravenously!!! I have had such an experience with my relative who had to be admitted twice to the hospital for this infection. Can the manager, Local Circles please inform FSSAI immediately to stop sales of these products. more
