Boycott Service Charge Restaurant

It is good to see that after all the awarnesss creation by Ministry of Consumers and LocalCircles that some restaurants have gotten better and started putting posters like the one attached saying "we dont levy service charge". I think if every consumer stands up at restaurant that levy surcharge, gets it removed by opposing it and shows this poster to them, it could lead to faster change. more

I had shared this post some time back. Now there is clear divide and most restaurants have taken a stand. Govt needs to create more awareness for more restaurants to stop charging service charge. more
It is not possible to argue with the Restaurant owners to remove the service charge, but should be reported to the concerned authorities to take punitive action. more
Prompt and Justified Rule is to be provided under the Constitution which guaranteed the same to its Citizen. more
It's a good move by a few resturants, others will slowly motivate, once consumers give their reference. There is no issue of GST, most of the resturants were charging service tax even after implementation of GST. Govt. should be tough enough to teach the violators. more
You could be grossly mistaken Mam that, it is Public or LocalCircles initiative that restaurants have stopped charging Service Charges. It is GST that is responsible for discontinuation of Service Charges because no Hotel wants to pay GST on Service Charges as Tips do not attract any kind of taxes. more
That is correct. Those restaurants which did not want to remove service charge have been been forced to do so because of GST and some have increased rates. more
