Brand Factory is openly saying we will charge GST on discounted merchandise. This is Biyan or Future Group the same folks who run big bazar. 4 months after GST they are doing this. Is there a MRP controller in Mumbai who can enforce rules? Kindly do so. more

In India, business of any and every kind in large, medium and small sectors is a big Scam in itself. No business is conducting business as a FAIR BUSINESS PRACTICE. The environment is such that nobody can claim to be fair in ones business. more

In general, we should feel proud of the fact that the voice of Local Circles carries weight in the governmental purviews and decisions. Let us continue to give our comments/feedbacks on the various subjects that concern the public at large. And hope that these shall induce proper and practical reactions from the government. Let's be patient, folks! "Misses" of the past several years cannot be corrected in days/weeks/months. more

Government is making R&D on GST and making amendments. A common man is not able to understand the concept and it's effects on his daily lively hood. He is forced to pay extra without any valid explanation. How long, we need to wait to arrive at a best result of GST. more

Sales Tax/VAT/GST or CGST are chargeable on discounted price only not on MRP, but the MRP is inclusive of all the taxes applicable on sales of the product. For example, if the MRP of a product is Rs.100/-, and the retailer sells to the consumer at a discounted price of Rs.80/-, the tax will be charged on Rs.80/- not on Rs.100/-. And, this has got to be displayed in the cash memo. Obviously, the price so charged on the discounted price is going to be less than the printed MRP. Sir, Thanks for your comments. It shall amount the same if calculated either way. I have written various articles on my blog also for wider awareness to the consumers. The articles were being written since 2014 onwards. more

You are right, in the light of the fact that MRP is inclusive of the tax. But the logic says, that for counting the discounted value first have to be deducted the tax value included in printed MRP to get at the new MRP. Then calculate the discounted value in terms of percentage, and then charge the GST/CGST. The process is, of course, tedious and time consuming. more

I think the government is still make a clarification on the issue. It is surprising that the finance ministry is continued to be unmoved despite pouring in huge complaints on the subject every day indicating that it has little concern for the consumers at large, which is possible only in our country due to our inability in creating collective pressure and we are always taken as granted in every matter. more
