Breakdown of Costs in Treatment
I think the hospitals must give breakdown costs of medicines and injectables, cost of treatment and bed charges and also consultation charges for each specialists, separately. They must also handover the case sheets alongwith summary.I think its a good idea. Now that the draft amendments to remove doctors and hospitals from the Consumer Act it will be nigh impossible to pin them down in case of wrong treatment/medical negligence.
Most of the cases the hospitals come down for settlement indicating thereby that there is a strong probability that the line of treatment or care is wrong/ wrong diagnosis.

It is not just the case of error in judgement. It is is the attitude and complete disregard of human life value and blatant commercialization that has got to curbed

What a pity ,no one bothers about wrong judgement given by courts and they take years together to judge, or give bell to hard core criminals to repeat the crime or kill witnesses or complainant .Poor doctor he hardly gets few minutes to reach the diagnosis is projected as villain , it!s a profession of uncertainty and so many diseases remain asymptomatic ans silent only to get acute exacerbation and uncertainty and diagnosed in postmortem. ALREADY ITEM WISE BILLING IS DONE BY MOST OF THE HOSPITALS.ONLY WHERE SOME PACKAGE TREATMENT IS TAKEN THEN THE CHARGE ARE LUMPSOME,BUT STILL FOR MEDICLAIM THEY HAVE TO BIFURCATE THE CHARGES.

All the big hospitals give detailed billing. In case you take treatment by paying cash, you can request them to give you a copy of the treatment papers saying you want for mediclaim. They do give. This is my personal experience in Mumbai.
