Budget 2016-17 - What Citizens Want
1. The rate of service tax should be brought down
2. Tax exceptions for home loans should be restricted to one house per person
3. Taxes on fuel should be decreased
4. More money should be invested in public healthcare
5. Investments should be made in infrastructure and clearing backlog of projects
6. The senior citizens who only depend on interest income should be given exemption
upto Rs.2.50 lakh
7. The income tax exemption limit should be increased to 5 lakhs
8. IT exemption limit may be raised to 7.5 lacs for senior citizens
9. Extra interest rate for senior citizens reduced recently from 0.55 to 0.25% be increased to 1%
10. TDS & service tax should not be deducted from temporary employees who have no EPF &PRAN numbers opened by the respective employers of Private/Government organisations
11. Provision of no deduction of any tax/cess should be made on tenders accepted at 15% or more below the estimated cost
12. Higher incentives should be given for pulses production and export oriented agricultural products
13. Kerosene subsidy should be eliminated by DBT
14. GST should be introduced as soon as possible
15. Minimum interest rate on fixed deposits to be 9% as is proposed for PPF. The interest earned should not be tax
16. Traveling expenses deductions for private employees should be increased
17. Service tax on Mutual Fund Distributors should be drastically reduced
18. Allow a Standard Deduction of 30% on the Gross Salary towards meeting expenses incurred by salaried professionals while performing their duties
19. Tax on pension should be removed or should be applied on amounts of more than 50000
20. Deduction under section 80(D) be raised to Rs 50000/ per annum
21. Minimum income slabs for ladies should be increased
22. Swachh Bharat cess and other cesses should be removed. more
