Budget 2017 delivers on some key Citizen asks

Many of you actively participated in the LocalCircles Citizen Budget 2017 exercise. We are pleased to share that while many of your collective asks have been accepted in some form, the ones below (attached graphic) have found direct place in Budget 2017:

1) Lower Income Taxes
2) Increase in Tax Exempt Income
3) Allocation priority to be Infrastructure and Agriculture
4) Railway Safety made top priority in 2017

95% of you supported the idea of cash political donations to be reduced from INR 20,000 to 2,000. The same has also been accepted.

In addition, your recommendation of effective data analytics on laundering post demonetisation while ensuring undue tax harassment of the honest tax payer doesn't occur also seems to have found place in Govt priorities. This will lead to more reliance on big data and less on the inspector system.

We will also be evaluating the recommendations not directly included in the Budget around Startups, Swachh Bharat cess, Flexi Fare suspension to see how we can get the Government to implement them as part of the operating strategy.

Thanks again to every member who patiently participated in this consultative exercise around Budget 2017!

I am glad that Education has been emphasized. The contents of our textbooks are often wrong, outdated, useless or too complex, but surely voluminous. >80% unemployable graduates, Only 3% skilled workforce, etc. are results of "BAD" education. I hope this year things would improve quickly. We expected the tax exemption up to 5 Lakhs per annul since the cost of living is higher and also available new system like charging 0.2 to 7 % tax can be collected on every transaction through currency less translations which can even abolish the tax system it self. more
