Transform India The corruption leads to compromise in quality, directly or indirectly. And the base of corruption is recommendation for admission or job or anywhere. Let's get rid of recommendation and try and make pure merit based Indian society. Illustration: - "Conflict of interest" My friend son works in MNC in USA. He did masters and then took jobs in his favorite field. And by now he is already tagged as six years experienced. Gone are the days when he was seating on opposite side of team of interviewers. In fact now he seats with them testing the new joiners. Recently while interviewing he faced his own university classmate who wanted to change job and had applied here. It was surprise for him and son was narrating me the funny incidence as how suddenly he faced his friend with whom he had family dinner on last weekend. And we laughed aloud. I mean the world is so small, we thought. But my curiosity did not stop. I asked, 'then!!' He said, 'then what!! I told my company that I can't interview as he is my friend.' I asked, 'Why! You could have continued.' He said,' I can't do that. It amounts to 'Conflict of interest'.' I was astonished. One can refer smart friends for appearing in interview for vacant post, but can't interview him. When I really digged little deeper I realized the logic. While interviewing a person known to interviewer will surely carry impact of past experience with candidate. Hence one canât really give justice to the interview. I just realized as how particular the systems are set in western countries. At the other hand here, we make sure that he is selected if is a friend and if we had some bad memories of his, no matter how good he is, is rejected. *"Conflict of interest".* I tried to derive some massage as how appropriate it is worded.
