Budget should providr more incentive for vehicle scrappage

The current vehicle scrappage policy is a dud and there isnn’t enough incentive for old vehicle owners to scrap theirs. I think it gives 15% rebate on tax.

Even the Localcircles survey says that. Can FM announce a sizable rebate basically 50% of the original invoice value of old vehicle should be given as deduction from income if proof of purchase is presented and proof of scrap is presented. more

I agree. Total Kilometer run Criteria must be the First priority. It is specially for Senior Citizens whose Cars Hardly Runs, but it is required for their Comfort and Convenience. more
Is ecological impact ever considered? Can the landfills sustain the scrap? Is technology available wherein entire product gets reconverted into the raw materials it got made from. The question remains, why when we demonstrate the product's complete qualitative fitness. Zeitgeist movement, even decades, whose cognisance it took, seems, pursuing consumerism, all but forgotten. more
Agree. Scrappage policy benefiting car manufacturers only! Same 4 wheeler costs 7 times the price, this would be sold at! If, after 14 years my vehicle has run just 55000 kms, runs cleanly, and smoothly, on petrol, why must it be scrapped! Abroad, say Canada, one may run one's cars 40 years, if clean! You believe we citizens have more money than Canada’s denizens, citizens or residents?! No scope left when such laws, mandating 15 years maximum life, get passed. Law enforcers mechanically follow them, causing citzens’ harrassment. Will the person doing enforcement see that the exhaust coming out completely clean, when registry shows 14 years age, exercising his better sense then? No, mostly not! He’ll only eye the lucre, citing statute, beneficial penalty! Shame on government, playing along with rich capitalists! Diesel highly polluting. Crude fuels obviously cause pollution. As though trucks were clean that businessmen brought out 4 wheelers running on the cruder fuel. Obviously subsidised fuel, costing 2/3 petrol price, 1/2 if one considers higher mileage, given the same happened during the previous government's tenure, became the cause people purchased diesel cars. Catharsis unfolding. more
The condition of vehicle and mileage should be the sole criteria to consign any vehicle to scrap yard. PUC certificate must be made compulsory for all vehicles including mopeds. But due to political compulsion, no govt. Implements the same. more
The Govt. Should first discard 30 years old vehicles including tractors. The pollution norms should apply to tractors, jugaad vehicles and diesel engine operated machines. more
