Building Toilets Faster

It seems the Swachh Bharat Mission on Urban side is 50% behind on their targets of building toilets. I suggest we have a discussion on all that must be done by all to speed up toilet building.

In Delhi, its still difficult for women to find a public toilet. What needs to be done to ramp this up. Pls all share thoughts. more

To address all these problems I have developed a model-self sustaining, stand alone, with or without water intake, with or without drainage. It now needs research to fabricate and commercialise. Looking for financial partner. Anand Chhabra 98718 55829 more
Dear Anshu, Greetings! Your concern about slow progress being made by Swachh Bharat (SW) in building toilets across the country, notably in metropolis like Delhi is appreciated. Maybe SW should undertake a minimum program to build toilets in areas where they are much needed. It would be appropriate for SW to undertake a review of progress made in this field so far and conduct a survey to assess urgent needs and action as necessary in major cities across the country. There are indeed also several relevant problems that SW have to consider and resolve before a given toilet project can be undertaken and completed, and they include finding appropriate locations, resources, manpower to build and maintain the toilets and so on. It is also essential to have attendants including security in female toilets for obvious reasons. Anyway, it is a good idea to provide SW with new ideas so that tangible progress can be seen in the not too distant future! With warm regards Swami Vas (Freelance Writer) more
Since this group reaches out to several thousand persons including senior security and government officers, I considered it meaningful to share the above post with you all. I expect you to be vigilant at your end. The Swachhata of mind and spirit is rarely spoken of! And help me to retrieve the sums. Rajnath Bhat more
I see multiple problems in carrying out this initiaticve - 1. Space for building public toilets- There are hardly any vacant govt owned spaces where toilets can be setup. Every open space is occupied by squatters. 2. Funds for construction - There is not enough fund allocation. Govt. doesnt have funds for more imp projects, then what to expect for such petty projects? 3. drainage - the places where toilets are setup, the drainage is not properly connected to drainage lines. So clogging, overflowing , stench, infections are the results of such shoddy work. 4. Political will - Politicians have been splurging on their funds and building their offices, but never a toilet. It has been the same since independence. 5. Free facility - Nothing comes free. Someone has to pay for the service being provided. A donor will donate the equipment/infra. But who will maintain that? Maintenance is recurring and very imp. When there is no income from the service given how can it be maintained? who will pay the sweepers/cleaners to clean our crap? We should, but do we? We dont. In developed countries, one has to pay around $1 to use the toilet. Only then you get clean toilet and nice. We pay Rs. 20/30 for parking, for few mins at times, or for paan/gutkha/cigarette, but not even Rs. 5 for the toilet. There should be a separate co. to build and maintain the toilets. They can run toilets in BOOT model, but the co. should make the space and drainage facility available for setting up a toilet. Toilets should have bathing, saloon/parlour facility as well. They should set min. Rs. 5 - Rs. 50 depending on the facility being used - urinal/toilet/bathing only. Saloon/parlour facility will be extra. This way will we can generate funds for building more toilets and reovating existing ones on train/bus stations. Every bus stop can have one toilet with a coin collector. more
Raj Bhat 3:53pm May 1 I HAVE BEEN CHEATED by FRAUDSTER. A call from cell no. 919674372551 introduced himself as a Bank Officer with duty on a Sunday to extend help to the SBI customers whose KYC documents were awaited. He sought and I provided my Aadhar card number, my ATM card number and then the six digit codes that were sent at my cell. It was time consuming. I told him that I will get this done tomorrow at the branch office. He made purchases as follows: 48900/ [Flipcard, Bangalore]; 2400/ [Grofers.com, Gurgaon]; 5000/ [lime by Axis.B. Mumbai]; 10991/ [Zopper Mumbai]. I rushed to the SBI BHU where the Managers very kindly blocked my ATM card. Please make it known across the country immediately and find out modes to capture the fraudsters and retrieve my hard earned salary. Very Sad. Rajnath Bhat more
