BULLET TRAINS FOR INDIAN ECONOMY?

How far will Bullet trains be helpful n necessary for present Indian economy? The Indian Railways/Govt. will be constrained to heavily subsidise the fare.to attract more commuters to be economically viable. Otherwise, the High Speed Rail cannot generate funds to service the borrowings n fund depreciation procedures, besides repaying the huge loan to Japan. Evidently, we know, only the rich class need to largely travel by these trains. The Govt. cannot justify spending tax-payers' money from ex-chequer to finance or subsidise an un-viable project on an on-going basis, benefiting affluent commuters. Further, with frequent accidents of our normal Indian Railways, we can imagine the magnitude of the risk element in running Bullet trains in the same scenpatio.
I am sure if the Govt. proceeds with this Bullet trains plan, a day will not be far to repent. . Will the Govt. pl allow the general public to share their views before stepping forward to proceed with this plan? more

require of bullet train and its impact on Indian economy need to be studied throughly more
There is a saying - keeping with Jones. Other countries including Japan and China have it. We too should have it. Nothing wrong about it only if it make economic sense. If there is a ROI, why it is not being shared with the public? more
Indian Railways - one of the worst, dirtiest and most corrupt. more
You can not compare our normal train service with those countries. Local trains are horrible. Track and train condition are very poor. Why not invest money to improve them. Once these are done we may have bullet train. more
Nothing wrong in going for bullet trains. more
Sure gentleman, we must have it but the time is not ripe for spending more than one lakh crore for bringing it in a country where more than 70% cannot afford the car even after introduction of cars i,e more than 250 years. Tom, Dick and Harry are using only in cities which is again less than 20% of INDIA. The same money if it is spent for bringing Metros to 10 more up coming cities it is worth and useful.Add one more Boing -370 from Mumbai to Ahmedabad at 1/10th of the cost and serve the same purpose for the present and send our Engineers and experts to bring technology to India and then build them here. more
And you want to keep it that way? Hardly few people went around in cars some years ago. Now every Tom Dick and Harry goes around in cars. Same case with telephones. Same case with travel in aeroplanes. Today Bullet train may look out of sync with present day situation, in some years it will not. more
Has anyone from your family - near or distant - fallen down from overcrowded trains and died and body on the tracks for a long time with no one from Railways to care? No, sure, then do not make such stupid statements. India is still years backward and a 3rd world underdeveloped country. more
Bullet train should come to India. If any people of this part of the country will ready to use bullet train is none other than Gujarat and Mumbai people who are business people mostly. If normal trains are not getting filled up 100% in that route may be due to it long journey hours. As the Railway minister said the loan amount with very low interest and pay back period starts later and pay back period is also 50 years. Country will get the technology and more employment during construction and during operation. It is a very good decision by the Government to introduce bullet train with a shorter time schedule and also between Ahmedabad and Mumbai where they can get back the investment without any trouble when compared with any other part of India. more
Even if Japan is going to finance at a very low rate of interest, right now what is needed for Government to seriously tackle is Health, Hygiene, Education and Employment which is need of the hour. Bullet Train will be nothing but a political gain which BJP is trying to under country's development program. This should not be allowed to happen. more
At present India does not need bullet trains as our economy has not grown to that extent . Our per capta income is not that much that we can afford bullet train as it is railways have reduced the seating capacity in first class . It would be more prudent to invest this amount in improving the infra structure of railways and improve the running time of many important ling distance trains which will go a long way in satisfying the customers need . Please give importance to the suggestion given by Shri Sreedharan who is an expert in railway projects more
