Business-Government collusion and corruption issues

1. Businesses bribe Government officials to get their work done on a priority basis
2. Government officials also accept bribes to ignore mistakes/deficiencies of businesses
3. Payments are made in cash to prevent detection
4. Government bodies have a lot of discretionary powers
5. Officials in some municipalities openly ask for bribes for giving a Layout Regularization Scheme for their plots
6. Cement industry is becoming a big cartel. Through the collusion, the same cement bags are sold at Rs, 220 in North India and Rs. 350 in South India
7. Builders have a major collusion with Government. In many cases, prime real estate is given to the builders at a very cheap rate to develop commercial projects. The earnings are shared
8. There is major corruption and collusion between Govt officials and Business in Municipal tender awarding process
9. Sub-registrar’s office where property registration takes place is a corruption den. Builders pay heavy bribes and get their property registrations done in no time given their collusion with Government officials
10. Government officers do favours for businesses and in return, businesses take care of their family marriage and other functional expenses or pay a percentage of transaction. more

Is the bank account have a registered PAN No attached to the same. In that case they will automatically fall in the hands of tax authorities. Their has to be a channel wherein tax authorities can provide information to the ACB for the unexplained money, Income from other sources so that they can start the process and punish the guilt. more
Fighting corruption .... But how ??? Million Dollar Question Dear Members of Local Circles. It's nice to be member in the local circles. I just like to know how do you fight the corruption, especially in Andhra Pradesh. I have tried couple of time and never came out any results of the string operations. Case 1. One of the biggest corrupt people are the sub-registrar office. If the registration fee is say Rs. 50,000 their commission is also Rs. 50,000, We tried the string operations and the bribe will never be given directly to the sub-registrar, It will be routed through the document writer, we have noted the numbers of the currency and finally not even a single note was found in the money he received from us. This is how we came to know how he has received the bribe money, this document writer has an account and it is kept exclusively for this purpose, when we give the bribe he know how much he is suppose to get out of this deal and he deposit the amount on this account and some of his family member of the sub registrar withdraws the amount using an ATM card, this way none will ever can catch him red handed. (Now tell me how can you catch this guys?????) Case 2. One of the other corrupted bustards are GVMC (Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation) Most corrupted in the world, if you want to build your own house without any violation still you need to bribe Lakhs of Rupees to get your plan approved. Here also you will never be given the bribe amount directly, you have to give to the third party surveyor and he is no way connected to the GVMC but he the king maker he dictates and call the shots what to be done and what not to be done. If you apply directly by paying the required fee and etc, you will be harassed for no reasons and asks for all kinds of queries. You will be forced to pay the bribe with no other option. (In this case what can you suggest???). All this is good to talk but we cannot catch the real corrupt official. All you can arrest the Document writer in the first case or the surveyor in the second case. nothing more can be done... India is a great country no matter what, no one can catch these guys. even if by chance he get to catch a guy nothing happens, before he can gets to the Jail he get a bail and later after few years will be given a clean chit and can scout free. He still enjoys the corrupt money, Property and also gets back all the arrears up to date. (What a great constitution). I guess its waste of time and money. Great stalwarts Like Jaya Prakash Narayana (Lok Satta Party) give up couldn't even catch a single guy in 10 years of its party existence. As long as our Law and Order (police Department) if free from corruption, secondly the Media Prostitutes never be able to sell the information and lastly the Judiciary system should be corrupt free, until then Nothing happens. At least in USA and other western countries two are free from corruption Law and Order and Judiciary. They are happy not to run around here and there for tiny things. I'm sure even in USA and western countries there is corruption at a higher level but common man is least affected. Good Luck and God bless you. All Subsidy should be given directly into the bank account of the identified needy citizens from the government funds.... Government departments should not be allowed to cross subsidise ..... as this becomes the leakage points and justification for inefficiency in Government departments which are involved in commercial activity.... all government departments / public sector units involved in commercial activity should deposit their surplus as dividend to the central government pool... promotion / salary of officers involved in these departments should depend on the surplus / dividend they give to the government.... similar to private sector... We need administrative reforms in governament more
Lets stop blame game and think productive. This is not a political forum to criticise any government but a forum to have some good practices to end corruption step by step. more
Well said Mr Kiran. The problem is now citizens decide politicians on basis of the subsidies given. The live example is Delhi. Instead of focusing on Income and development they are more focussed on cost of living. To me the subsidy should be given to needy persons. more
