Buying meals is Compulsory in Rajdhani etc.! - WHY ???

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE FORWARD THIS TO THE RAILWAYS MINISTER ?
: -

For travelling in most Rajdhani and Shatabdi and Duronto trains, the Railways require that we pre-purchase meals - whether we eat it or not.!

It is really shameful that the railways will not sell tickets for travelling by most of the Rajdhani, Duronto and Shatabdi trains unless, at the time of booking the tickets, we also pay for the meals which will be supplied by their contractors. No one in the Railways is in any way bothered about what the passengers are forced to eat. The passengers' only other choice is to throw it away. There is no refund, no choice.

WHY DO YOU NOT GIVE US THE CHOICE ???

Passengers who are satisfied by your pantry service will pay you as before.

After making the payment in advance, we (the passengers) are totally at the mercy of the catering contractors of the pantry car because we have already paid up...!!!

We are forced to accept whatever sub-standard and insufficient meals given to us - as if we were beggars.

Take for example the Rajdhani trains to Assam i.e. train numbers 20503, 20504, 20505, 20506 (earlier numbered -12435, 12435, 12235, 12236,) and 12423, 12424. Every time, without exception, whenever I travel in these trains, I witness passengers arguing with the pantry staff regarding the meals provided.

When asked for the complaint book, it is almost never given. It is another matter that the passenger who has asked for the complain-book, is then given special treatment so that he/ she will not write a complaint.

Please give us the choice of meals for our preferred meals.

ARE YOU READING THIS MR. GOEL ???

To me Railway's own catering once was good. The down fall started around 2005. Now it is worst than railway's own catering. more
Even for part journey one has to pay full catering charges. That is also a point to consider. more
Then how will Railway goons get daily haffttas and free meals their birth right. Contractors are kamau poot for Railway so why they will act. more
choice is must. One may like or may not like to have food. more
You are right, but not easily manageable. Even it is being done to take different charges for veg and non veg person. On Thu 7 Mar, 2019, 1:13 PM VK Sharma, wrote: > more
