Buying Milk in Noida - Watch out

Researchers, led by Brototi Roy and colleagues at Maitreyi College in Delhi, randomly collected 75 milk samples (packaged and unpackaged) from different regions of Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon and Faridabad. These were tested for adulterants such as neutralisers, skimmed milk powder, urea, detergents and ammonium sulphate.
The study found that all the milk samples were adulterated with neutralisers. These are substances added to prevent curdling and increase the shelf life of milk. They could be added in the form of caustic soda, sodium bicarbonate and sodium carbonate. Packaged milk, that now forms a significant chunk of the milk delivered to homes, was found to contain a higher amount of neutralisers, solid milk products and urea. A higher proportion of unpackaged milk samples contained detergents and ammonium sulphate.
Milk adulterated with detergents is known to cause food poisoning and gastrointestinal complications. In addition, some detergents contained dioxane, a carcinogenic agent. The concentration of urea in natural milk ranges from 0.2 to 0.7 g/l whereas adulterated milk contains almost 20 times its natural concentration and stresses the kidney to the point of renal failure.
It is also reported to weaken the eyesight and trigger headaches and diarrhoea in children. In excessive quantities, ammonium sulphate can lead to coronary disease, gastrointestinal irritation with nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. more

All milk dairies comes under NDDB, Ananad. Local food inspectors are just minting money..you will appreciate PM while opened against corruption..all corrupt people united against government as they may face survival of their group or party whose ,win aim to amess the wealth and loot the poorer. So I do not know the strength of DM to initiate such action otherwise he would be blamed for one or another matter. Yes we the people of Noida can make the difference in steps: 1- create more and more awareness among consumers 2- visit some of Dairy plants to go into deep the process of manufacturing 3- place report before public and responsible authorities including state and central government 4- every household want to save their next generation..but you can see how much we got the comment for daily need like milk 5- start to make consumer forum of the city and invite some reputed, well educated persons ..who can devote time and have commitment to such causes. 6- Let s initiate and arrange meeting in a park if can not find any other place more

When a govt cannot provide its people pure drinkable water, unadulterated food items, leaving other fundamental needs, whats the use of such govt/leaders? At the time of elections, leaders make all sorts of promises of becoming true patriot, but what after getting elected? Its need not tell to Indian folks. Its happening for last so many decades. Nobody is able to break this tradition or fin d solution to this problem.Probably, vested interests and vote bank policy is the main hurdle which is almost impossible to eliminate. It appears it has become a long lasting phenomenon. Noble and sensitive citizens are continuously trying to find some way out but are not yet very successful In the end its for the people to help themselves and elect right people and not misguided by wrong elements. It is going to be hazardous situation since delhi and NCR is depending on packaged milk which is sure tobe affected by polythene packing and the preservation chemicals. Govt should device the way to ensure supply of pure milk and punishing of cilprirts more

I wrote so many times but no body in administration and government interested. I request you all to carve out a committee of 5-6 person and visit personally Mother Dairy plant. Let us see the process of packaging milk. We should not be in dark while providing milk to our next generation as diet. This is very serious matter. Let all milk producing units be subject to audit by CAG.
