Cable tv companies need to be restrained

Dear Friends: my husband, was just told by Dish TV that we need to pay to access Free-To-Air channels..

So now for free-to-air channels, you have to buy a stupid pack... hope TRAI penalises these anti consumer companies immediately.

Consumer Ministry kindly assist if you can. Would be great if you can actively take up such common issues. more

We are also availing the services of Dish TV since couple of years but we never faced with such issues. more
DISH TV HAS UNETHICAL POLICY AND WILL NOT REFUND THE AMOUNT DEPOSITED BY THE CUSTOMER, more
In Tatasky there are lot of unwanted channels have been thrusted on consumers. This is mainly for their commercial publicity. more
I feel that either the company fails to convey or may be we have not understood. Since the time of Digital transmission of TV channels, the broadcasting company has to provide the channels through set top box and dish antenna. These are hardware items and can be out rightly purchased from the companies or taken on rental basis or even can buy from the open market. Now the companies are required to transmit the signal in an encrypted form digitally from their transmitter to reach at the receiving end for which the transmitting companies have been allowed to charge maximum amount of Rs. 130/- per month as fixed charges. These are the operating cost and in lieu of the fixed rental charges of Rs. 130/- per month, the companies have to provide compulsory a minimum number of 100 channels out of free to air channels. In addition to these free to air channels, the consumers has a right to select any of the pay channels by paying not more than MRP of the respective channel. more
You want them to pay attention? Disconnect the service. Not only would you NOT HAVE TO deal with this headache and extortion, you would also have a peaceful life. Try for a month and see what happens. As long as we remain slaves to TV, we will be exploited in this manner. more
