It may work out if u can follow the simple steps. Prepare butter at home early morning without mouth wash take 2 spoon and keep it in your mouth till it is drinkable slowly swallow it. after 10 minutes do vajrasan trying to hold left leg thump with right hand in backside twisting your body. reverse it. Take one litre water. After 5 minutes do the same asana. Initially u may find it very difficult. more

The methods detailed by Indranil Bhattacharya are likely to help most patients. But for a few who, having tried everything, still do not find relief, they need to consult a psychiatrist. There are a few drugs which control IBS. One among them is Paroxetine These drugs are not to be used without the prescription of a qualified medical officer, preferably a psychiatrist. These drugs not only help relieve symptoms of anxiety and depression, but they also control the symptoms of IBS. The treatment may continue for a few months to a year or two. During this period the patient needs to change his life style and dietary habits as mentioned by Mr.Bhattacharya. As improvement sets in, not only in the symptoms of the disease but also in the overall personality of the patient, the psychiatrist may wean away the prescribed drugs. more

By far one of the best posts on IBS. Self watch is a better teacher than blindly going to a doctor without observing dos and donts or observing what causes problems or just gulping down syrups and capsules. Very often I have read that a cup of fresh curd taken on an empty stomach increases the good bacteria in the stomach and gut and works as a great reliever. However this is not a full medication, but only an aid to helping in faster recovery. Should be continued and made a part of the regular daily intake. more
