CAN BUREAUCRATS DECLINE GOVERNOR’S INVITATION ?

The politicians belonging to ruling party and its’ allies boycotted the tea party hosted by the Governor to celebrate Tamil New Year day and honour Bharathiyar.

Whatever may be the difference of view with the Governor, the Chief Minister and other ministers should not have boycotted the invitation. By this immatured act, they have insulted Tamil New Year day and the occasion to honour Bharathiyar and also the post of Governor.

What is even more shocking is that IAS officers including Chief Secretary who should know better also joined the ministers in declining the invitation.

For a moment, they have forgotten their stature and standards expected of them. They should not join the politicians and should not lend their support to the act of politicking by politicians.

Lot of bad things are happening with regard to the behavior of IAS officers in Tamil Nadu. A few of them went along with the Chief Minister to Dubai in an aircraft which was leased by the ruling party . Now, by declining Governor’s invitation, IAS officers have proved that there is deep rot in their thought process and behavioral pattern.

The President of India proclaims the Central Government as "My Government" . Similarly, the Governors of States proclaim the respective State Governments as "My Government" . Thus said the "My Governments" and so , "My Governments" are the Governments of the President & Governors , strictly speaking in terms of the values of personnel and the statutory gumption. The President appoints the Governors without consulting the States . The states are given the option to demand the Center what is called Recalling the Governor . However, you will appreciate that the Indian Democracy is an open-ended type that Regionalism dominates Nationalism and at times steams out like a stream of extremeness such that the Regionalism in its rationalization undervalues the Nationalism to a petty marginalized solidarity . more
Such incidences are now a days very common in most of the states where ruling party at centre and state are different. Govt. officials are administered by state politicians so compulsion is always there. Besides many state Governors are behaving as representatives of ruling party at center. It was never so visible in India. No doubt, such practices are no way good at all. more
