Can India trust Putin?

Putin signed a law today that will make it possible for Russia to nationalize the 500+ airplanes that Western leasing companies have demanded to be returned to them.

The planes are worth more than USD 10 billion.

This is how doing business with Russia often ends.

In theft.

Even if we sign a deal for discounted oil and commodities, the state they are in they could take the money and default. more

India buying cheap oil from Russia when we profess that for the sake of the environment fossil fuel consumption should be reduced! Russia could or would use this money for furthering Putin's agenda of interfering with other sovereign nations. Can't see this happening unto us, but if this happens to Ukraine India strengthens the aggressor! Some principles please. more
Not withstanding the fact that India doesn't vote against the naked aggression of Russia in World forum, my reading is that It doesn't support it either. It may also be incorrect for certain countries to unilaterally impose economic embargo on the alleged offender without going through UNGA/ UNSC though punitive action against 5 permanent members of the council may be difficult if not impossible. Given the circumstances (which needs to be rectified by suitable procedural amendments to UN charter), sanctions such as present embargo may be unavoidable. Given the ethical stand that India takes, I believe India will not fall pray to emergency gimmic by Russia and will find some diplomatic way to avoid the trap. more

The entire World is like New Wine in Old Bottle ! Kingdoms have disappeared . Democracies have come in . But, Borders prevail . United Kingdom (UK) has refused to drop the word 'Kingdom' from its name . So it be their provocation . Somebody must have been already born on the Planet . And, that is Putin !! more
India's policy of to be Neutral is best. Further our country does not have any defense treaty with any country. So if there is opportunity comes we should grab to buy oil from Russia more
Opportunistically approving Russia's action to be vengeful? Western countries have joined hands to harm Russia economically when Putin unilaterally starting proceeding with his megalomanic designs in usurping Ukraine. That is the complete fact. You can write your thoughts about the United States comfortable that they will treat everyone's views democratically. Can people do the same in Russia! Russians themselves are leaving their country while here people may be more loyal than the king! Has anything been said about the fact Putin signed a law today that will make it possible for Russia to nationalize the 500+ airplanes that Western leasing companies have demanded to be returned to them. more
