Cancellation of Travel Plans on account of Corona Virus

My family planned to visit a resort in Idukki dist from 26th to 29th. The plans were made well ahead when the threat of Corona Virus was not there. Now the situation in the country has changed dramatically. Even the Government of India has asked people to curtail travel. In a situation like this people have to make changes. We also decided not to travel. The resort people to whom we had made a full payment understood the situation and agreed to refund.

It is the Airlines which is creating the problem. They are not prepared to cancel and refund the full amount. Only option they have provided is that you can choose to change the plan to a later date till 30th December. But the conditiuon is that you must travel only to the same place where the tickets have been booked and that you must intimate now itself as to the new dates. How is this possible.Travel date depends on so many factors the childrens holidays and the availability of leave if the person is working.

I believe the Government must bring a rule that in this emergency situation any cancellation should be accepted by the Airlines or Railways and thefull money must be refunded.

I suppose u should visit the consumer court and surely they will help u out in such dire times more
Airlines are also in deep trouble financially and are incurring losses due to the heavy cancellations and reluctance to travel. Hence they should give a voucher for the refund amount to be used for any flight before Dec 2020 more
Airlines want to make hey while the sun shines. Railways should also relax their rules reagarding cancellation refund. more
Persue the topic with the airlines sir. At least, they should refund the airlines charges minus the tax paid to the government. more
Airlines should just refund the entire amount. Suggest you write a letter to the concerned Union minister by name with a copy to the Chairman of Airlines. It should work. more
