Capital gain on sale of House Property

Many people are forced by circumstance like meeting hospitalisation expenses, Children marriage, Higher education of children etc. to sell their existing house and move to either smaller house or rented house and use sale proceeds for meeting above purposes. These persons are subjected to capital gain tax if entire proceeds are not reinvested in another house property.
I request that basic exemption like 50 lacs be given to such persons from capital gains calculations so that house proceeds could be used for specific purposes like Medical, marriage, higher education etc. more

This is a genuine problem. If the sale is a distress sale, there should be some provision for waiver of capital gains tax. more

The present government is exceeding its powers and finding various methods to tax its citizens. They want money from all corners for doing nothing. The LTCG is one such draconian move by the present government. What is said by the writer is absolutely true. Mostly middle class salaried personnel for an ownership flat/property, by investing their HARD EARNED TAX PAID money. IN INDIA THE MULTIPLE LEVELS OF MULTIPLE TAXATION MUST END. THE GOVERNMENT IS JUST FOOLING PEOPLE OF INDIA BY INTRODUCING NEW NEW WAYS TO MOP UP AND SWINDLE THE COMMON MAN.I REQUEST THE LEARNED FINANCIAL WIZARDS TO FIND A SOLUTION TO THE MULTIPLICITY OF TAXATION PREVAILING IN INDIA TODAY. more
