Car manufacturer's role in pollution.

While lot of words have been spent on acting against polluting diesel run vehicles, there is hardly any action, as majority of the large family cars are still running on diesel. Car manufacturers are also to be blamed making it convenient to leave the ball in the buyers' court. Let the polluter, responsible for rampant dieselisation of the economy, also pay up, so that cost of owning such cars is increasingly borne by them. In countries such as Malaysia, petrol and diesel are priced exactly the same, so the same brands - Toyota, Mitsubishi, to name a few, are producing cleaner cars - read those that run on petrol. Technology is being invested in to clean up the act, even in refineries refining the fuels, and engines burning it. Better would be to produce hybrids, that have zero emissions when idling or below a certain speed switch to electric traction, utilizing regenerative technology to generate electricity when braking or turning. more

Stop production of diesel cars, then over a period of time they will vanish. Also stop diesel production and use the byproduct for some other purpose. more
Marginal gap between petrol and diesel maybe removed . Then only petrol vehicles will be preferred which are less polluting more
Govt. is trying to minimise the price gap between petrol n diesel. Than the transporters increases the fare n take all commodity prices so high all what you are suggesting , is like to solve one problem, create another problem. more
Yes I 100% agree with you Mr.Ashish more
