I strongly advocate for consumers to carry their own carry cloth/paper bags and do not agree with Chandigarh consumer forum verdict in Bata case. We need to have reusable carry bags instead of chaurning more and more new bags. This will be more economical and disposal of such bags doesn't arise. So, in order to refrain from giving carry bags, I welcome merchant establishments charging for carry bags. more
Either we are ashamed to carry cloth bags or any suitable device or we intend to show off our sources of purchase. If you are going in your car or two wheeler, you can always keep cloth bags or plain plastic bags handy, in the dickey. Then such necessety of taking the merchants bag with his advertisement with or without charge will not arise. I always keep with me 2 or 3 sizes of bags to suit a variety of purchases. We must remember that avoiding the use of non bio-degradable material is the main issue and so avoid plastic bags even if you can afford the Rs 2 or 5 charged by the shop more
For each wrong charging by the shops, we can not go to the Consumer Courts. Department of Consumer Affairs should direct all shops to charge for Carry Bags, if it is free from any printed matters more
Reliance stores charging for carry bags at Bhopal more
When you are aware that carry bag is not free and chargeable, why opted for a chargeable one? more
