Cataract

What happens if one is 75 years old, has a long medical history including IHD, has matured cataract in right eye, (cataract in the left eye is just setting in) and one does not go for cataract surgery more

My good wishes Mr. Ghosh - Dr. Narendra Kumar more

I agree with Dr. Vinayak in a way that a person having cataract needs to undergo surgery...but since Mr. Ghosh is having sizable cataract only in one eye (with only slight cataract in the other eye), it may not be interfering with his daily activities. But since a `mature' cataract is liable to cause complications like glaucoma, it should better be operated upon without further delay. As to the heart problem, the operating surgeon insists on getting a physician's clearance for the patient's condition to safely undergo eye surgery. In short, the advice would be for Mr. Ghosh to go to an ophthalmologist who will provide all necessary guidance. more
