Catering to passengers - Opportunity for women to prepare Ghar ka Khana

There are multiple trains which runs long distance with many stops like Vivek Express which runs from Dibrugarh to Kanyakumari with 82 hours 30 minutes and having 52 stops. Now this train can never run right at time always and would definitely run late creating problem for passengers needing food, water or even milk for babies. Railways can create opportunities for local women by inviting them to cater to the passengers with Ghar ka Khana. For example, suppose the train is running late and it is scheduled to reach X station at 13:00 hours (lunch time). If there is a group of women at X who are enrolled in Railways to supply food and if the passengers are given their contact numbers, the passengers can call and order food in advance. They can supply the food at the station when it arrives. It would ensure the passengers to get fresh hot home made food. There can be special requests for kids or even patients who travel by train which can be met by them. It would enable the local women to earn some money if they are interested and also serve the passengers who look for good food on the way. By the way, I just mentioned Vivek Express as an example. There are many such long distance trains without pantry and the passengers suffer the most because they do not get quality food more  

Certain points need to be attended on priority or ways to mitigate are to be carried out by Railways. Railways have more experienced, capable management personnel and hence this can be very well thought of. 1. Trains should run on time - whatever be the problems ( except natural calamities/disasters) man made problems to be overcome 2. Personnel manning stations, signals, vital operational aspects are to be pro active to manage crisis situations to see that the trains run on time. 3. Discipline is to be enforced very strictly at all LEVELS and accountability should be fixed for any lapses in day to day functioning . 4. Performing officers are to be recognized for suitable rewards or merits. Mere writings/posting do not give results, but commitment has to be educated and brought in for better results more

No, even then if the train is scheduled to come to a station at scheduled time, the passengers can order in advance and the food can be supplied. Suppose I am travelling to Bengaluru from Howrah. I am scheduled to reach a particular station at 13.00 hours and I order the food at 11.00 am. I can get the food at the time I reach the station. And it is not one train, there are multiple trains running and there would be many people wanting to buy food. There can be group of women catering so if the orders are distributed among them, then there is no chance of huge quantity of food wastage more  
if the train does not come late, what happens to food cooked by households who wanted to provide? will they not be at loss? more
