CATTLE MENACE AND ITS IMPLICATIONS IN FOOD SAFETY :
For a few months, the Municipal corporations' announcement of penalties for owners of wandering cattle reduced such incidents. However, this measure was only temporarily effective. Instances of aggressive behavior, particularly from cows attacking children, women, and elderly people, had created a climate of fear in the community.
Both cows and buffaloes are valuable milch animals, supplying milk for dairy products. To ensure their health and the quality of the milk they produce, it's important to consider the following:
Safe, Nutritious Feed: While it’s acceptable for cattle to consume vegetable scraps and greens, their primary diet should be carefully regulated. Currently, much of their feed appears to come from garbage and stale food, including both vegetarian and non-vegetarian waste. This could negatively affect their behavior, potentially making them aggressive or unpredictable.
Health and Wellness: Milch animals should undergo regular health check-ups, vaccinations, and disease prevention measures to safeguard their overall health.
These steps are crucial for public safety and the quality of the milk supply. We appeal to the GCC to implement consistent measures to address these issues, ensuring both the welfare of the animals and the safety of the residents.
