CBI raids NMC offices in birth certificate scam - revealed the unholy nexus of BJP leaders with touts.
Unearthing a huge fraud in North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NMC), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a raid at three offices of the corporation only to find major irregularities in the issuance of birth certificates by the sub-registrar office.
The birth certificates were being issued by the North Corporation officials in connivance with touts in lieu of payment of bribes by using unique SDM order number of any genuine applicant and issuing several birth certificates thereof under the same SDM order number. It was also alleged that multiple birth certificates were being issued on basis of the hospital records of any genuine applicant, which has revealed the unholy nexus of BJP leaders with touts.
The CBI team conducted random checks at the office of registrar births and deaths located at Rajpur Road, Office of SDM Model Town and headquarters of North Corporation at Civic Centre. During searches, several instances were found that substantiated the allegations. The fact that CBI has seized thousands of incriminating documents of the past few years further stresses the depth of the scam. more
