Censor Board and the current Mess need a permanent futuristic solution
IMHO please find an out of the box solution Mr. Minister. I was on Censor Board Advisory Panel a decade ago. 1. Personally I feel CBFC should not certify each film but Certify the Production houses on the pattern of ISO Certifications with the help of Audit and Certifying bodies. 2. The Cinematography Act will have to be strengthened and the current Quasi-judicial powers of members/ advisors/ officers need to be enhanced to Magistrate level powers - as Justice of Peace etc. 3. The CBFC should play the watch-dog and view the films thru its officers/ members/ advisors and look for violations. 4. Put the onus on Production houses and make them go for the Self Certification which has an oversight by a body active in each state. Having worked for an year on the Censor Board, I guess I am in a position to make these suggestions however unsolicited they may be to avoid embarassment to the Government of India. Cinema is powerful media which can contribute immensely in nation building. But the cinema people nowadays believe much in money making thru screening sex, violence, controversies in the name freedom. Film certification should be in the hands of strict disciplinarians. more

What is the use of censor board when we find lot of crime, violence, revengeful behavior, sex, vulgarity, religious distortion etc. are being served to the people in the name of 'need of story'? It must altogether be stopped without further delay. Producers of the film must well be informed before commencing shooting that such scenes will not be allowed in any case. Our country has tolerated lot of negativism from various sources including films. Now it is the time to switch over to neat and clean films full of positivism. They must be told to promote positivism in this country. And we must take a lead in this world to promote positivism because it is heading towards negativism. more

The delegated mission is squarely responsible for compliance of the act. The producer, directors must sensor the film irrespective of the cost, or loss which he may incur. No compromise on cost of sensor visa vis compliance to act. If for any reason the the delegated committy has not complied or has biased with respect to any particular film, the committee also should be made respossible and punishable fir such violations. more
