Chandigarh Railway Station Parking
I recently visited Chandigarh. The railway authorities there have give the entire front area to the parking contractor. Even pickup and drop vehicles are being charged parking because the vehicles have entered thru the parking gate. I have not seen such arrangement at any other railway station. My cab dropped me outside the railway station. When I reached there and booked a cab, the cab driver demanded Rs 30-50 extra for parking charges. How can railway have such a system?? There is definitely something fishy. more

I think Railways need to tighten their shoes as they can't evade the responsibility. The contractor must be warned or penalized as per contract for pick n drop if they are charging extra. more

MANY PLACES, NOT ONLY RAILWAYS, PARKING CHARGES ARE SOURCE OF INCOME FOR GOVERNMENT AS WELL AS PRIVATE SECTORS, WHO ARE NOT EVEN OWNERS OF THE LAND IN WHICH VEHICLES ARE PARKED. SOMEONE'S EMPTY LAND IS USED BY HOOLIGAS TO MAKE MONEY AS PARKING PLACE. more

It seems nexus between parking contractor and railway official. Either the contract given is wrong or contractor charging illegal. In either case, contact should be revised or local station supritendent should take action. more
