Charging Over MRP rampant in Punjab

We have received a complaint for Mr Amit Sharma Deva which is reproduced below:

"In Punjab bus stand in every shop they charging above on MRP, I also send a e-mail and call many times in Metrology Department of Punjab State but no response comes from that department and yesterday again I visit in Punjab i see they are still charging extra amount 5-10 Rs in every food product on MRP after implementation of GST , so please tell me can I hope someone take initiative
Sir last year I also mail regarding every shop in punjab Bus Stand charging above on MRP and last Wednesday I again visit in Punjab, i see they are still charging extra 5-10 Rs on MRP after implementation of GST , so please tell me what is your department doing.
I think only Punjab is the single State in India where every shopkeeper in Punjab {bus stand} and all shop which are situated on Punjab and Jammu Highway they charging extra amount on every food item, I think Punjab is the single State in India where they charging extra amount on every food items.

I also message to Metrology Department of Punjab State on Facebook but still no response comes.

I talk with maximum shopkeeper why they are charging extra amount and if someone complaint against you than they said no one comes here for checking, and we not afraid from anyone.
Please do needful more

I too add that this is the complaint that prevails throughout the country, in the States and on Highways. And, the regret is that the Department of Consumer Affairs shakes of its hands saying that they write to the State Department for implementation of the rules and that they could do nothing more than that. I am sorry to say that the Consumer Affairs Department at the Centre is neither competent nor willing to be harsh with the State Authorities in getting consumer issues resolved and implemented. I am on record on this particular issues to put up hoardings on the highways with the warnings for overcharging and giving the contact details of the officials of the respective departments for lodging complaints. I would suggest that the Department of Consumer Affairs at the Centre calls for a joint meeting with the States' Consumer Affair Departments where consumers' representatives are also present to send out words that mean business to the State officers present. Consumer protection must not be a political issue. Only such officers who can deliver results should be posted in the consumer affairs departments. more
