Chinese toys and Stationery items

There is a massive chinese invasion now in indian retail sector where even in malls their are stores now openly selling only china made items. Many selling toys stationery chocolates and what not.

Why is it not mandatory for all importers to get BIS certification before they can sell in India.

This one move can change the game. Why is BIS inactive?? Is it so hard? more

And this is not the issue related to toys ,only. There are many industrial raw materials, speciality chemicals, solar panels, construction material like tiles, house hold items, furnitures, electrical goods,LED bulbs, decorative electrical fixtures, electronic goods, including key pads, mouse, mobile phones, internet. routers, door bells, chimes, plastic additives, artificial fruit ripeners, the list is very long why we only harp upon toys ?Toys are just a peanut among so many listed items . Unless our business men have national spirit n we the citizens as well to promote only products produce or manufactured in our country , no one can help. Right from schools we have to teach building national character . The megna Carta of WTO agreement, signed by our great leaders we have to open our markets that is where we the citizens never bothered . Jai Hind more
Chinese products are cheaper then their Indian equivalent.Their Technology and labor output is far better then India's. Better India should awaken and take it as a challenge and improve. more
This is the opportunity n not threat. But it is like when one gets food right in his mouth at just throw away price no one wants to cook at home more
There is no invasion by China - but it is Indian submission to China. Indians are importing Chinese goods, Indians are distributing such imported Chinese goods to Indian wholesalers, Indians wholesalers are selling such Chinese goods to Indian retailers and Indian purchasers are taking home such Chinese goods. PERSONALLY, I don't think that we were being governed by the Britishers, but only a very small - handful no. of Britishers were ruling through a large no. of Indians. Indians were killing Indians, Indians were jailing Indians, Indians were exploiting Indians by various means to satisfy the Britishers for petty gains. Now, Indians are exploiting Indians through Chinese Goods. more
Innovation and utility is more in Chinese items. Our business people need to support local talent. Support skill development to counter Chinese products. Provide alternative/substitute to consumers. Kodak films is best example to explain the need to change as per times. Young talent need to have wider vision and think globally to be competent internationally. more
It is good that an awareness has crept in about the invation of Chinese Products into India . If I remember we have been bringing this to the notice in the Circles for the Past 4 years . It used to be seasonal . During Pooja ,Deepavaly ,Christmas seasones when a lot of Chinese decoration stuff is imported by Indiantraders and brought to the market . The trader makes his oney and goes . There is no interest in Talent utilizing and buildingin by those who profit from the imports rom China . That was actually stifling the Indigenous small and medium scale industries and converting the manufacturers to Traders . I think repeated onslaught in the circles about the Chinese import & Smuggling through Nepal must have influenced India to go cautiousl on RCEP[Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership] and post pone the decision. The Entrepreneuers need a lot of co Encouragement & cc operation from Governmet ; and also discouraging the rampant import . more
Not only toys but all consumables including havan itemsare being dumped in bulk by China. The GoI and
local business are lacking in cost & quality. However,
BIS should ensure that no sub standard stuff is pushed
into Indian market. more
