Chlorpyrifos - dangerous pesticide in fruits and veggies
This pesticide causes brain damage in children per latest EPA USA research and is the 4th most used pesticide in India. BIS even has standards on it. It is user on fruits and veggies. Apparently in the past dow officials were reported to be bribing officials in India to get it through.
Can BIS please advise what is the issue with this. Is it banned or farmers still using it. and if you cant respond to consumer queries, shut your selves as an organisation.

what is mentioned is true and on a trial basis at least to instil fear into govt employees this should be tried out to show the corrupt people that they cannot be doing what they were doing earlier. Same should be also extended to the corrupt politicians by their respective parties to bring credibility

In India, all Regulators are virtually non-functional and need to be re-surrected to protect the interest of hapless consumers. Corrupt and under performing officials be weeded out every year. All employees shouldbe appointed on contract for a period of 3 years which should be extended only after assessming his performance. Over dose of job security and non-accountability and ruined every Govt. institution in India.

Every new pesticide creates hype on the market leader to create a market for itself ... not sure which is the new kid on the block ... That said, as a parent, its our responsibility to wash / clean / peel our food inputs - and buy organic if we believe that hype cycle .... Seeking Govt intervention for everything seems to be abdication our personal responsibilities ....

I agree earlier we were using more organic manure self prepared whereas nowadays with the advent of mnc's farmers are being conduced to use more pesticides for their benefit and for their survival.
