Circle Demand from 2018 accepted

Seems like one of our circle asks from 2017 budget has just gotten accepted. We I remember had said that TTE discretion must be removed on vacant berths.

Railway has launched an online platform for online booking of vacant berths after chart preparation. This will bring transparency and ticket checkers will have no discretion in allotting berths in the train. more

Unfortunately we are not adopting 'good' practices of West, but follow all unwanted practices. All developed countries have these machines and all transactions are through credit cards. One cancerous disease by Govt in India is charging for using these machines in all establishments. It was earlier requested to FM that such transaction charges for using the machines must be removed. On one hand you have closed more than 50% of ATMs to encourage digital transactions, but other hand, you collect transaction charges to clients as well as vendors, is totally unfair. Let us have constructive thinking. Unfortunately Modi ji was not adequately appraised on this subject. more
Thanks for the mentioned information. On Wed, 27 Feb 2019, 17:59 Manju Patel, wrote: > more
Does this really take away the role of the TTE ? No, not fully. You see Tatkal tickets are NOT refundable, and I have found (I am a railfan and travel considerably) so the holder of aTatkal ticket does not travel and DOES NOT CANCEL. THIS IS A GLARING OMISSION AND IS NOT SHOWN ON CHARTS. IF YOU SEE THE CHARTS UNDER THIS NEW FEATURE, IT IS ONLY FOR AC CHAIR CAR !! SO FAR.. more
YES, THIS IS A GOOD MOVE BY RAILWAY BOARD..!!.. IN FACT, WHEN I HAD RECOMMENDED DOING AWAY WITH 'TICKET WRITING' BY TTEs LONG BACK, I HAD ALSO SUGGESTED THAT EACH TTTE BE PROVIDED WITH A TICKET DISPENSER (like the one carried by BEST conductor in Mumbai AND THE DISPENSER BE CONNECTER 'LIVE' TO RAILWAY TERMINAL. BASED ON THE PASSENGER OCCUPANCY, RAILWAY TERMINAL COULD ANNOUNCE THE 'CURRENT VACANT SEATS' AND THE TTE WOULD ISSUE TICKETS TO THE BOARDING PASSENGERS. THIS SYSTEM WOULD SUCCEED ONLY IF THE FLYING SQUAD WORK OVERTIME AND CATCH ERRANT TRAVELLERS AND TTEs REGULARLY. more
It appears there shall not be any RAC,Waitlist tickets, where as one has to search seat availability for a particular date, train daily till departure. It is needs more clarity. more
