Citizen Whitepaper on Garbage Management

Dear all:

Based on your inputs on the subject of Garbage Management, the following whitepaper has been compiled and it will be submitted to Senior Officials in the Ministry as well as to any other related agencies.

You can share the whitepaper with your local municipal corporation heads, City and State Leadership as well as your Elected Representatives.

It is available at : http://tinyurl.com/lpjtjmj

Also, do encourage your neighbors, Resident Association, local family and friends to join the Swachh Bharat circle at http://www.LocalCircles.com with invite code- SWACHHBHARAT or by sharing a printed copy of the attached.

We would like to have atleast 1000 citizens from a constituency before we initiate a Swachh Bharat local circle there.

Thanks,
Ministry of Urban Development more

We have seven buildings in our society at Gokuldham, Goregaon(E), Mumbai. Each building has 28 flats. We have assigned that every week, by rotation residents of each building will take up cleaning drive of one area. more
In my neighbourhood there is a municipality dustbin. There is also a bridge adjacent to it. The nullah over which this bridge is built is used by a private company to discharge its effluent. Traditionally, people had been disposing of their household waste in the nullah while standing over the bridge. Now, even though dustbin is there, people still use the bridge! Further, whatever waste is actually thrown in the dustbin is scavenged and scattered by dogs and monkeys. So it is actually of no use! Often when someone goes to that dustbin to throw waste, monkeys attack them. Such problems also need to be addressed. Though I don't have an idea what can be done about it, I request other members to suggest something. more
There is no nessacty to have a white paper on garbage cleaning in all muinicipalities/Corporation/small town panchayat. The people residing in the town/city shall take care of garbage cleaning by shouting the authorities with 100 persons of each road/street. Then the cleaning will done as per our wish. more
Small steps starting from segregating wet rubbish from dry can help a lot. Composting of Organic waste can serve as good nutrient for soil. more
recycling of plastic waste to be taken up at the cost of new plastic or the cost added to the same. Now recycling plants are objected on grounds of pollution and environment mainly by the local bodies. more
