Citizen's voice heard - Thankyou Railway Minister

In Jan. when Delhi was experimenting with ODD-EVEN, I had thru my post in this circle suggested revival of Delhi Ring Rail.

I am glad to see that immediate action has been planned in the Rail Budget.

My Original Post dtd. Jan 08 is re-produced Below:

Revival of Delhi Ring Rail
Delhi Ring Rail is an available public transport option , which could be revived on top priority.
Following are major issues with the Ring Rail Network :
1) Majority of the people are not aware of its existence
2) Poor conditions of roads leading to the Railway Stations
3) Lack of Proper connectivity between Ring Railway Stations & nearby bus stands / Metro Stations
4) Lack of Maintenance & cleanliness at Ring Railway stations
5) Lack of adequate security arrangements

If the above issues can be addressed thru co-ordination between Northern Railway , Delhi Metro , DTC etc , it could be a boon for Delhi's public transport problems.

Good suggestion and good decision to revive the Delhi railways. more
Happy to learn that the idea of ring railway is being revived. I remember reading in the newspapers in or around 2000, however, an article which stated that the Ring Railway is running on a track which was laid by the britishers as the 'Delhi Avoidance Line'. It was meant to service freight traffic from/to other parts of the country by avoiding Delhi. The opinion expressed then was that it would not be useful to revive the system fro passenger traffic. I believe the population densities' dispersal in Delhi has changed since then, and efficient bus services have become operational since the days of the 'Blue Line', which I used frequently then during my stay in Delhi. Also, The Metro Bus Service serves as a feeder for the Metro, and could be meshed into a new feeder service for the Ring Railway. I hope the Ring Railway takes on a new Avatar, and serves Delhi soon. more
